What keeps these light seals from becoming loaded with bacteria and causing breakouts? Washable Silicon would better as meta found out
It comes with two light seal cushions so it can at least be swapped out, but hopefully they can be easily washed. Silicon doesn’t seem ideal as it can probably get hot and sweaty against the skin.

Airpower = Disappointment

AirPods Max = Disappointment
Vision Pro = Disappointment in 3,2,1….
Disappointment for you or in general? I love my HomePods. Anecdotally, HomePod and AirPods Max satisfaction rate amongst owners seems to be pretty high.

Airpower cant be a disappointment since it never released. All these items are very niche and not mass market devices. They're products nobody NEEDS like a phone or a laptop/desktop. They won't be for everyone, however the people that do purchase them generally enjoy them. I will say from my personal experience HomePod is just not close to the experience I have with my Echo Show 10 and I was not overly impressed with the AirPods Max in the Apple Store when I did want to purchase them. Not everything will be a hit.

Vision Pro - Not for everyone just for the price alone, but it is one cool device and a unique experience you won't get anywhere else. Headsets are just a hard sell long term, unless everyone is wearing one. I have purchased multiple VR devices for gaming over the years and they're always exciting initially but then I get sick of pulling it out and putting it on. I think that will similarly happen here especially if it's as heavy as everyone says. I can't justify a $3,500 IMAX device as much as I want one. New golf clubs are more fun.

Quest has silicon. Yes it gets hot and sweaty but at least ya can rinse it every time ya use it. No ones doing that with any other material. Porous material is not gonna be good for workouts

Apple loves selling accessories, and the parts that touch your head are removable. By the time that Fitness+ stuff is added Im sure Apple will have something more suitable. Possibly with a Nike partnership.

Actually not sure if VP will be good for workouts or anything too active because of the external battery. Quest might be the go-to for that. But if people want to work out with VP anyway, I’m sure if Apple doesn’t supply silicon seals, a third party will.

M3 Max Macbook Pro w/36gb RAM: $3200 niche computer built for industry/professional use
M2 Ultra Mac Studio w/64GB RAM: $3999 niche computer built for industry/professional use
M2 Vision Pro: $3500 niche headset built for industry/professional use

If you're not in that product catagory then why are you complaining about something you'll never buy and isn't even aimed at you?

Whether it's the current AVP, or a future lower end AVP, it will be priced at roughly 40% (GPM) over COGS (cost of goods sold).
Don’t disagree but in today’s world, $3k isn’t the new $500 gaming console. That’s a price, well above the COGS and I honestly think Tim Cook is just so disconnected from “the common man” that he’s inside a “yes sir” bubble and doesn’t realize that $3k for a headset isn’t realistic… heck Meta is having a hard time moving $500 quest 3, while yes the AVP is going to be better but 6x better!??

Apple has a lot of R&D to recover, at least 7 years worth (including collaborating with Stanford University's AR/VR laboratory) getting this going. Which I suspect is part of the reason why GPM has increased to where it is now from around 30% 3-4 years ago.

Totally disagree about Cook. He's a degreed engineer in addition to holding an MBA. He's hardly a yes sir or yes man, and smart as a whip and doing an outstanding job running Apple and keeping all of its employees employed (while most other large tech companies have had massive layoffs).

$3K is a reasonable price considering it will likely far excel over any other non-medical/scientific AR device. In comparison Meta's device is a joke.

Apple's device will be loads better. There are so many applications beyond it being an alternate display for a Mac allowing people to bring up multiple virtual large displays in their living room. That's a mice-nuts use case.

Or Apple is playing a longer game than that, and they don't expect the first headset to be bought by every Johnny six-pack and Sally housecoat.

totally agreed on every word my friend.
when airpower was announced, lots of people were excited about it, when apple cancelled it lot of people was sad about it too.
With Homepod i was so close to buy it but instead i went for a samsung home teather, so glad i did.
and with vision pro we will see how this new device will turn out to be, kinda like a ps5 to me, how often i will play with it???, i got a ps5 back in christmas i have only played it like 5 times so far.

2 hours sounds pretty weak? I dunno what the standard is tho
The standard at this price point is “Stand next to this PC, won’t you?” so little concern about battery life at all. For those that aren’t tethered like Meta’s and HTC’s, 2-3 hours seems to be the standard.
