Day 1 AVP owner. This thing still has a “WOW” factor when watching movies. And, the sound with AirPod Pros on is shockingly good. Apple is definitely onto something with the AVP. Once they get it smaller, cheaper and more apps come to the App Store, most Apple users will likely get one.
I have no doubt it is great as a virtual movie theater for one. But niche enterprise (low volume) applications aside, neither Apple nor anyone else has demonstrated AVP (or “spatial computing”, as prominently mentioned at launch) actually improves productivity for most real world users.

More apps? How many new apps have been added that are not just floating 2D windows? Whether intentionally through Apple producing a limited first run, or any other reason, potential developers were telegraphed the message “only a few users for the foreseeable future” loud and clear. We understand there is a “chicken or egg” scenario here with users vs. app development as well, but I just don’t see either side of that “users-app development” equation reaching critical mass any time soon.

Lastly, let’s be honest about the fact that the vast majority of “Apple users” around the world couldn’t care less about the latest expensive tech. They own an iPhone because lots of people have phones, and they like the iPhone for a variety of good and not so good reasons. It’s not much more than that. How many here with elderly parents or grandparents that own iPhones?

I find it so incredible how much resentment and bandwagon behavior this product brings out in people who can’t afford it.

Such a tired and unimaginative response. Plenty of people who have owned and tried this have the same thing to say. My buddy owned one, quickly got bored with it, so it sat around until he sold it several months later. The ATP podcast has two, fairly wealthy, owners complaining that there is no use for it, no content, and it just sits around. I did the demo at the store and afterwards wanted to vomit for the next two hours from motion sickness..I couldn't even look at a TV.

I can afford it, and I don't want it. Grow up.

Edit: I see that I replied to your first post, and I've been trolled...my bad.

So stupid and such a waste. Congrats to the 10 or so that buy it I guess?!?! 😆🤷🏼‍♂️ It’s already a colossal failure and losing their asses on the returns. Won’t even recoup the massive development costs. I would fire Cook over this failure personally. Yet, he gets rewarded for failure of said product. Corporate America at its finest.
how is it a failure? At $3499 it wasn't made to be a commercial success... and as someone who's had it since day one, it's a fantastic product I use every day. It's certainly the most exciting thing apples released in ages and its only gonna get better.

Tim Apple: "No one can say it's a flop when we never intended for it to be a success!"

Apple's board: *standing ovations for this genius strategy*

Phil Schiller: "Courage!"

they all knew that when they saw the price 🤷‍♂️. How do you think everyone at meta feels about selling their **** at a loss and being so deep on the hole from it? Headsets are the future and the only interesting thing in tech anymore but its gonna take a while to build out and guinea pigs are needed to make it all better

ROI on research and development isn't always a straight line. A lot of the technology that was developed for the Newton (which was a flop in the marketplace) ended up being developed into technology that made the iPhone and iPad possible.

It's clearly a commercial flop. But not all great ideas are huge money makers out of the gate, and there's no doubt the technology developed for the VP will end up taking Apple in other directions.

Apple can afford to take the loss and see where the technology leads future products. That's part of the "luxury" a company of such scale and with financial resources has.

It's fun to trash on it now, but it WILL lead to other things that will make money for Apple. It just takes vision past the next quarterly statement to see that.

Which IMHO is the REAL problem with corporate America. That lack of vision.

Also who in that country has the money to buy one, they are so expensive. Talk about flogging a dead horse.
Huh? What a terrible and ignorant thing to say:

From Wikepedia:

The economy of Taiwan is a highly developed free-market economy. It is the 8th largest in Asia and 20th-largest in the world by purchasing power parity, allowing Taiwan to be included in the advanced economies group by the International Monetary Fund.[20] Taiwan is notable for its rapid economic development from an agriculture-based society to an industrialised, high-income country. This economic growth has been described as the Taiwan Miracle. It is gauged in the high-income economies group by the World Bank.[21] Taiwan is one of the most technologically advanced computer microchip and high-tech electronics industries makers in the world.

motion sicknesss sounds like a you problem. I've never once had motion sickness from a vision pro. that's more of something ya get from fast full motion games on the quest. This thing is still the ultimate movie watching device. Better than any real world theater I've ever seen

Of course it's a me problem, but it still happened. That doesn't account for the other issues, though.

Problems:

1) Single user (ridiculous..absolutely beyond ridiculous)
2) I don't watch movies alone, pretty-much ever
3) Same goes for tv/streaming.
4) Only works with Apple. Want to send a hdmi signal in, like from your switch or ps4/5? nope. Windows machine? nope.
5) You like a di*k wearing one, and the googly eyes are just straight-up heebie-jeebie creepy.

I live alone so it's like the greatest thing ever for me. Actually keeps me focused on great tv and movies I'd otherwise prob be playing with my phone or talking to someone during. if I game with I use Nvidia geforce now. My only real complain is that there's no way to watch amazon prime or peacock in full quality with surround.

I estimated several millions won't blink a bit to have a toy of this price.

The verdict:
in 2023, more than 50% of new purchased autos are from Germany and Sweden; adding up crazy 100% of tariff+sales tax penalty, entry level model costs 30,000 to 40,000 USD. Man driving a localized manufactured Japanese car is assumed a loser.

iPhone has about 60~70% usage rate in Taiwan, about 50% market share in the first 2 seasons after a new release.

I no longer engage with their posts. Instead, I simply like their content and proceed with my day. Their minds are set in stone, and there is no point in attempting to change their perspective. Lol.
Agreed. It’s like a game.

But I wonder if they’re playing a game with people that do like it, and then in turn we’re playing a game back, and in reality everyone is just having some fun 😊.

Like the guy that replied ‘angry face’ to my post. Probably just trying to get a reaction.

Whoops, I reacted.

😄
