Apple Vision Pro pre-orders have gone live in Taiwan as the launch date of its spatial computing headset nears in the country. The device will be available from Sunday, December 17.

Customers can now place their orders through Apple's regional online store, which details pricing options, storage configurations, and additional accessories including ZEISS optical inserts for vision correction. To support the launch, Apple's two retail locations in Taipei will offer 30-minute demonstration sessions, allowing potential customers to experience the device firsthand.

The Taiwan launch represents Apple's thirteenth market for Vision Pro, following its initial U.S. debut in February 2024. The company has steadily expanded the headset's availability throughout the year, with releases in major markets including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, China, Hong Kong, Japan, and Singapore during the summer months. More recently, Apple brought Vision Pro to South Korea and the United Arab Emirates.

Fair enough, more than one was sold. But in the iPhone club the seats are actually always filled.
…And? Completely different computing device categories.

You’re free to enjoy/prefer certain device categories for your computing needs without needing to care about a device category—especially you don’t seem to be the demographic it’s for (i.e. people who are only or primarily interested in VR for AAA gaming are NOT the target audience of the Vision Pro).

It’s incredible how quick the haters are to respond. As if they had nothing to do, just camp out waiting for a mention of the AVP to appear so they can spread their hate.

Welcome to the internet.

Anyways, I wonder what the worldwide sales are going to look like a couple of years down the line.

Tim Cook hyped this device for years, making it seem like this was going to be his iPhone moment. That's why I'm comparing. Realistically, this product could still fail to take off. Having a couple of enthousiasts never guarantees that Apple will keep it in production, otherwise iPhone mini and iMac Pro would still be in production.

Won't deny that it is technically and even visually a stunning product that I'd love to try out some time when it arrives to where I live. Who knows, maybe in a few years we won't even remember the struggles of the first generation and we'll all be wearing these at our place of work and on the couch at home just like in the commercials.

Yes it is a great device - but for mass-use a lot still has to change (starting with the weight :))

When I saw the picture, I wondered, how long it would take for a member to answer exactly, what you did. Congratulations First prize 🎂- you were even quicker than I expected.

Get a Google Cardboard...

Many thanks. Google Cardboard does offer more value for money but I'm a bit sceptical on either use case.

In all seriousness, it's nothing personal, I just don't get Apple's product strategy here. I once spent hours listing all Apple products that I've owned, they're all in my profile, so I would say I'm an overall enthousiast. I think I'm in the target audience for this thing, I would even swallow that price tag, and still I don't desire it. If Apple had any more exciting plans laying around for it, now would be the time to give us a peak.

Not any better unless there is way better, more discreet, hardware and a better form factor coming

The mainstream wants no part of this as it's currently construed

MR: *Posts a story about AVP being released somewhere new, or getting an OS update, or new apps released*
MR Forums: "Waaah, but it wasn't released in enough places, and the OS isn't perfect, and there aren't enough apps!"

I’m completely sure that these “launches” are probably to save face, there’s no way they can make a profit on that, it’s probably much more expensive to import the devices, set up stores, employee training, and hardware and software support than whatever $$$ they get from the very few people actually buying this ,and considering that some people will buy it and get (completely justified) buyers remorse and return it a week later.

This product is a failure, I think it was even a failure considering the original goal (to make a pro device for pro users to get feedback and release a consumer version later) because even that seems cancelled or delayed.

I do not want to be offensive, but there are far too many posts in every VisionPro thread, just lurking for something negative, they can point at (empty chairs here...) instead of contributing something useful.

In doubt of something about something, I just do a lot of reading. Are there answers to my questions / doubts?
In case of the VisionPro, I just jumped into the cold water, because it was the thing I wanted to experience for ages. Not just watching Star Trek and their Holodeck, but do it. I am doing it now - with some apparatus on my nose, but I do it and I discover new worlds.

Sitting on the beach of BoraBora and doing mails on a huge screen that cover my view of the palmtrees - imagine...

I guess that’s the world we live in now.

Welcome to the club, Taiwan.
Any reaction is better than none - the more the haters bump the klicks the more attraction the product gets - personally I think it is the easiest marketing since it attracts simple minds ;)

To be honest - beeing in that business, I would take that "Guerilla Marketing" variant into consideration.
Provocate a lot of negative inputs and wait for the positive reactions. Focus on specific negative aspects and let consumers create positive answers to it.
