I do not want to be offensive, but there are far too many posts in every VisionPro thread, just lurking for something negative, they can point at (empty chairs here...) instead of contributing something useful.

In doubt of something about something, I just do a lot of reading. Are there answers to my questions / doubts?
In case of the VisionPro, I just jumped into the cold water, because it was the thing I wanted to experience for ages. Not just watching Star Trek and their Holodeck, but do it. I am doing it now - with some apparatus on my nose, but I do it and I discover new worlds.

Sitting on the beach of BoraBora and doing mails on a huge screen that cover my view of the palmtrees - imagine...
I don't know, not everything should be so serious. I found the single chair picture genuinely funny as a quick response. I think maybe the actual reality of owning and enjoying the device vs Apple's product strategy are different things. Like I said I'd like to try it out sometime but I simultaneously forget it exists until a thread like this pops up.

And we're on MacRumors, it is sacred tradition to be negative about new products.

My projection of sales will be less than 1000 unit given that high cost. Quest 3 has a way better value in my opinion.

That projection is probably what was sold in the US! Taiwan will be lucky to hit 100 units.

To be honest - beeing in that business, I would take that "Guerilla Marketing" variant into consideration.
I am not in Marketing - I am in sales and I have a clear vision of things being executed - Apple has been executing very well over the past three decades with long term strategies and even in case Tim would leave the company soon there would be many candidates internally pursuing the current company's path simply because it makes sense to let things slowly find their way into ordinary people's homes - some ideas will take longer than other.
I love my Apple TV and I have been owning it since day one of the market introduction. Just a gorgeous idea.
I buy things on the idea behind it and in case of the Apple TV it was money wise a no-brainer.

Provocate a lot of negative inputs and wait for the positive reactions.
Well - not being a marketing guy I have a hard time believing that Apple is behind the negativeness - I've never seen something like that with Ferrari or Lamborghini or Koenigsegg - that's the league the AVP is currently in - a super luxurious niche filler that nobody really needs - as with the luxury cars you can of course drive with them but they address no real purpose but they bring tremendous fun. Like the AVP
Focus on specific negative aspects and let consumers create positive answers to it.
Hm? - Not sure whether that really works?
IMHO the negativeness comes from greed and misconception and hate of other people allowing themselves to enjoy things. How else would it be possible people starting to hate ICEs while building homes consumes a multitude of CO2 emissions and nobody changes that?
There is aways a hidden agenda behind things - either clearly addressed by a group or in social groups having a similar ( bad ) attitude.

All in all I really like my AVP and I hope future versions will be lighter and receive more content - both is very realistic IMHO

Better to have a demo first before ordering one. Don't think that pre ordering is required. Stock availability should not be an issue. Still waiting for it to be available in my region.

When I picked up mine the demo was almost mandatory - the Apple guys talked me into getting a demo before I am using mine - I guess they want to get a direct feedback and best practice from the future users and to be honest the demo was nothing short but eye opening - literally. Even in case I would never intend to buy one I would definitely want to have that demo.

Anyone buying the Apple Vision Pro still believes the Apple car is coming soon as well.

I already own two 'Apple Cars' - ( they both have CarPlay integrated and thus benefit from all new developments a Car maker would never integrate in any existing car and delivers )

You're probably right in one aspect - the AVP is a side effect of the original AppleCar development - Apple is probably using some of the core technologies and ideas and makes use of them - in fact I think the have always planned on the synergies between these developments.

Ever tried AR kit before on you SmartPhone of Tablet? nothing short but amazing - just try the Bosch APP MeasureOn which uses Core technologies from Apple and be amazed how precise the APP measures the room - spot on in dimensions just a few seconds.

People tend to forget that these activities are always embedded in the larger eco system and as such all will benefit from the outcome.

AVP is just a jig saw piece of many activities not to be seen as isolated activities. Or course not everyone is willing to accept that some companies don't work in isolated silos and Apple is surely one of the few large companies where the leadership team has their fingers in every activity and orchestrate the outcome.

Apple leadership is very flawed and decides to push out products that there is no demand for.

oh gosh! Should have known that earlier and should have sold my shares long time ago - just checked - huh - did +30 % since the beginning of 2024 only and a lot more since I bought mine

Could buy a multitude of AVPs for only the share price increase since beginning of 2024
I guess people forget that endeavors need decisions. Once you understand that and do more right decisions than wrong ones you're a good manager.

There was a very interesting documentary about Jeff Bezos - he said that in case only one decision every day was right he probably has done his job perfect.

I applaud all the arm chair critics in forums for their input but in real world most here don't even have a base understanding of economics - otherwise the rant about the pricing wouldn't be justified since it is a minor investment :p

I’m completely sure that these “launches” are probably to save face, there’s no way they can make a profit on that, it’s probably much more expensive to import the devices, set up stores, employee training, and hardware and software support than whatever $$$ they get from the very few people actually buying this ,and considering that some people will buy it and get (completely justified) buyers remorse and return it a week later.

This product is a failure, I think it was even a failure considering the original goal (to make a pro device for pro users to get feedback and release a consumer version later) because even that seems cancelled or delayed.
There are still people working on AR or marketing it, so they need a purpose. There is also a previous report that Apple has a warehouse full of them to off load.

There’s probably still people working on Siri and it’s dumber than a 3rd grader!

Your "completely sure" logic lacks the basic logic, that one does not restrict sales for a product, that is not selling as expected.

Like with the HomePods, it is mainly the question about local language support. First talk to people in their own language, then start to sell a product.
