People talk alot of crap. How on earth does anyone know why he's left? How does anyone know what Angela Ahendrts tasks actually are? It's all speculation.

The reality is the old apple online store had to be taken down to update it as it used some old webobjects tech.
So part of what has been done is to bring it into the 21st century and actually have a proper 24hr up time online store.

Also, Apple sell a lot less things and have a lot less configurations than most big retailers. So the idea of just idly browsing doesnt make much sense. I dont think people discover what they want to buy on the store, rather it's about promoting a life style and maybe upselling.

In fact Angela's appointment was recognition that selling homogeneous computer based products (phones, watches, laptops) means conveying a life style in order to distinguish brands. This is exactly what fashion retailing is about. Shirts are shirts, shoes are shoes, as their function becomes obvious you have to highlight other things like how they make you feel etc.. Thats where we are heading with tech. Thats why people on tech blogs dont understand. They are used to specs selling products. That wont work in a homogeneous world. Apple gets this.

Define 'Browsing the store'. I'd say you browse the store by selecting at product category from the black top bar that is always visible when you are on Apple.com. Then you drill down by, eg, selecting which kind of Mac you are looking for or whether you want to look for Mac accessories. Under Mac Accessories, you then can also browse all third-party offerings (either via the Browse all slide down sheet or the overview at the bottom of the page).

Hopefully one of the execs is smart enough to realize that everything about the online store was close to perfect, and didn't need sweeping changes.
I stopped reading right here. The phrase 'Everything was perfect' is just an expression of an aversion to change and calling the changes 'sweeping' is just hyperbole to justify your dislike of anything changing.

And btw - this here is a freaking joke: "A former CEO of Burberry, Ahrendts famously revamped the company's entire shopping experience."
You left out a key word, the full sentence reads: "A former CEO of Burberry, Ahrendts famously revamped the fashion company's entire shopping experience". This sentence refers to Ahrendts revamping of Burberry's shopping experience.

We all know that and it is a horrible design.
I get the impression that you consider 90% of what you encounter in life as horrible. Which either makes you a very discerning person or one that has really taken the "everyone's a critic" notion to heart.

The layouts of the online store make it seem like Apple actually does not want anyone to buy anything. It is extremely awkward and irritating trying to find accessories for sale.
Really? Click on 'Mac' in the black 'toolbar' at the top, then on Accessories and then on Browse all. That's three clicks starting at Apple.com.

An article about Bob resigning, but his name only comes out once in the article, two times if you count the title, while Ahrendts's name shows up four times. We must not really care about Bob. Chin up Bob. Go seek better fortunes in your life.

Either:
  1. Apple is having trouble figuring out how to make good hires and/or retaining them
  2. Apple is deliberately hiring for sprints where a specific executive is brought on board to achieve a specific goal and then released with no intent of longevity on either side
Maybe a little of both ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Click...click...click....there it is....oh wait....click ....click...click...is that it? No wait.....click..
Imo website is bad for buying experience. I almost didn't want to buy anything.
