It will be a 'spoilt with choices' situation for smartphone lovers as three such awaited handsets, Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Motorola RAZR and Nokia Lumia 800 are all set to encounter the iPhone 4S this month.

This battle may be an interesting one, because even after much criticism, iPhone 4Sstill remains the best selling iPhone till date and all eyes will be on how Android will be striking back.

A discussion on these significant parameters may help you arrive at the best one for you!

    1. Price

iPhone 4S comes in three non-expandable sizes: 16, 32 and 64GB priced at approximately Rs. 39,000, Rs. 47,000 and Rs. 55,000 respectively.

Samsung is yet to unravel the price tag of Galaxy Nexus 16GB, available with an upgradable storage.

The Motorola RAZR, 16GB, priced at approx. Rs. 36,000 comes with expandable memory of upto 32GB.

Lumia 800, priced at Rs.34,000 will have an additional 25GB of free cloud storage.

    2. Design and Build

iPhone 4S is still as non-durable as iPhone 4, which means an accidental drop could easily result in a shattered front or back.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus has gigantic size but gives a firm hand grip.

The Motorola RAZR, on the other hand, which is built on a sturdy stainless steel core with aluminium surrounds, has a surprisingly light weight of 127g.

Nokia Lumia 800 has a unibody polycarbonate construction to creatively hide the micro SIM and micro USB ports.

    3. Camera

Apple iPhone 4S, Motorola RAZR and Nokia Lumia 800 have an 8 megapixel camera whereas Samgsung Galaxy Nexus offers only a 5 megapixel.

However, Galaxy Nexus has the provision of a near zero shutter lag and panaroma mode.

    4. Screen

The iPhone 4S carries a high pixel density at 960x640 IPS Retina display across a 3.5” screen.

The Galaxy Nexus, is the world’s first to come with a Super AMOLED panel at a whopping 1280x720. Motorola RAZR and Nokia follow with lower resolutions of 960x540 and 800x480 respectively.

Though Samgsung’s display has quite a lot of detailing with the resolution cranked up to 11, Nokia features a conventional ClearBlack to comply with Microsoft.

    5. Processor

While iPhone 4S uses its custom dual-core A5 chip, Galaxy Nexus and Motorola RAZR are both based on a TI OMAP 1.2Ghz dual-core processor.

Meanwhile, Nokia Lumia 800 runs on a 1.4 GHz single-core processor as Microsoft doesn’t support dual-core processors.

    6. Operating System

iPhone 4S runs on iOS 5 which includes iCloud, WiFi syncing, iMessage, Twitter integration and most significantly Siri, which is exclusive to iPhone 4S.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus runs on Android 4.0. A new font, ‘Roboto’ is specifically designed for high resolution screens to sport cleaner lines, subtle animations and gets rid of unnecessary User Interface elements.

The Motorola RAZR runs on Android 2.3.5 while Nokia Lumia 800 runs on the latest version of Microsoft OS, Mango.
