That's what I would get. But I don't play many games. Also, in my experience OSX is way faster multitasking than Windows. Try burning a CD, encoding a DVD, playing iTunes, and browsing the internet. Well on OSX all ran smoothly. Plus I didn't mention Chatting as well. OSX has excellent memory management. This makes it seem faster than convential x86 processors. It is also why it Macs can be slower than PCs and PCs sometimes slower than Macs. Running one app at a time (like games) in a PC is clearly faster. However, in "real" apps Macs pull ahead.
I wonder what you mean by "real apps". Some reason this reminds me of the same reason Intel Hyperthreading allows the user multitask "better".
Isn't it true in both cases, that optimizations are one of the biggest factors? With Apple, as a company using specific hardware, the software is also written specifically for its architecture--and if it isn't, perhaps these "real" apps will run slower.
Has anyone done a study on this? I know with Intel, HT puts Pentiums up on a pedastal b/c of the inherent HT optimizations, while AMD relies on architecture/chipset advantages ALONE to optimize (while the FX/64's have sse2, they do not have HThreading).
