I find these announcements a little underwhelming.
They're hardly tentpole features that strictly need to kept under lock and key.

I don't understand why such big announcements, at major events announce these features; and 6 months later, we see the roll out, roll out to just 6 hotels in the US.

Edit: I'm all for Wallet, it's a brilliant centralised feature that I use daily. But I just find the rollouts of these types of features to be painfully slow.

Been doing this at Hilton properties for a couple of years via their app.
Same for Marriott. But this is better - having the key in wallet is much faster to access. I don't think I'd use the Express Trust option for my hotel key, but double-clicking to open wallet and a quick swipe to the key is much better than the current four-step dance : unlock phone, find hotel app, open hotel app, activate room key.

Been using the Hilton and Marriott App for this for a few years. Wallet needs a lot of work. The apps work and as a pilot spending 100-130 nights a year in those two brands I just use the app. App or wallet don’t care just get it implemented in more hotels. I hate carrying cards around but always have my watch or phone with me.

The Hilton app is very good. Been using it for years without a single issue. You check in remotely and just go to your room. You never need to see anyone, or the front desk, which honestly makes traveling that much easier, and less stressful.

Hilton and Marriott are Bluetooth. Nice when they work. I’ve had mostly good luck, but a few times nothing worked.

Wish they had ability to share a key or setup on multiple phones. I was told not possible.

To everyone saying that you've been doing this for years at Hilton and Marriott's... no you haven't, not in the same way at least.

This is an NFC transaction vs the BLE experience you've been using. As many have experienced, BLE is unreliable. NFC transactions are fast and reliable, benefit from Watch, Express mode, and dead battery support. This is an exciting moment for Hyatt and future hotel chains to come.

The other nice thing will be if the worst happens and you get robbed, unlike a regular house key, car key and driver's license those things are inaccessible without your phone/watch's password.
Exactly, it would suck to have those things stolen but I can wipe them remotely rather than having to rekey my house and car and have to go and get a new drivers license.

Interesting. I never realized Marriott was using BLE. I just assumed since I seem to recall they released mobile keys shortly after Apple announce the NFC would be accessible to more apps. Always wondered why it was hidden in the app and no option for a Wallet card. Just figured Marriott was lazy.
