I bought an AW Series 3 almost 2 weeks ago and that exact same day it wasn’t working properly. The measured heart rates were wrong (at first I got 183-175-161 bpm in the same pattern everytime, while doing nothing, then it completely stopped measuring), it asked for a passcode everytime I turned on the screen and I didn’t get notifications when wrist detection was on. I tried contacting Apple Support last week but they were so unhelpful I couldn’t even believe they were Apple employees (outside US). But now it got even more strange, I was walking for a long time and the watch asked by itself if I wanted it to record I said yes then when I randomly looked at the watch I saw a proper heart rate unit. I got home, the measurement still worked, all 3 previously mention problems seemed to be solved until about 10 minutes ago when it stopped measuring again.
The Watch and the phone softwares are up-to-date, I've already tried unpairing-repairing the devices. I use the factory silicone bands, the watch is not too loose or tight either. This makes me think there's a hardware issue but I'm not sure abotu that because of what happened today (and also the green leds are working).
Does anyone have any idea what might be happening?

I really don't have any idea. Did you buy it second-hand or as new old stock? If you bought it from a retailer, I'd take it up with them. If it was a private sale, I'm not sure what recourse you may have there. Are you able to get to an Apple Store? That's terrible that support left you hanging.. you can always call back and hope for a better support analyst.
Best of luck. Let us know what happens.

I didn't buy it from an Apple Store but I bought a brand new watch from a premium reseller. I think I'll try and contact them.

Yeah I would definitely try to return or exchange at this point. It should be flawless out of the box and that doesn't sound like what you got.

Like others have said, I would take it back and ask for a replacement.

Re Apple Support, sadly yes some staff are not very helpful at all. Just ring again or ask for a senior support person.
