Apple Watch 3 - Messenger app not loading.

All I can ever do is reply when a notification appears on my Apple Watch. The app itself never loads if I try to launch it alone. I text more than I use Messenger so for me, for now, the app itself is not that important via the Apple Watch. For now.

Good morning.

Often had this problem with my series 2 , & since upgrading too series 3 last week it’s exactly the same. Can reply to a message but not start one. The series 3 loads apps quicker than my 2 , however all this means with messenger is that it fails to open ......quicker ! .....If that makes sense.

Just spins & spins & totally useless. Deleted , rebooted etc with series 2 but won’t do that with this new one. Given up on it tbh & with using iMessage & Whatsapp I don’t really have a need to initiate a conversation via Messenger.

Shame though as once it worked perfectly. No doubt buggered up with one of Facebooks countless ridiculous weekly updates & never been sorted since.

I’ve sent many “help” messages to FB and Messenger about the issue. Wonder if they will fix it? It used to work great and I loved using it on my AW.

You could be the 1st person in history to receive a reply from FB if you do. Unless you sent them some of your private data at the time & they now know exactly where you live , I wouldn’t hold your breath.

As the title says, all I get is the spinning dots.

I tried just about all the suggestions on various sites and nothing has helped.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks, that’s how I had it, so I turned off cell and turned it back on, no change. It still doesn’t work.

Messenger on my Watch never worked from the start (I have it since christmas 2017). Always a loading screen when I try to open the app. Ridiculous.

I've never been about to use Messenger on my AWS2 either. Tried everything you guys have too. I been with FB since 2008 and have a GAZILLION messages over the years. Perhaps the watch tries to download\cache the messages (or a portion of them) and is simply timing out and cannot open past the spinning dots. What no one ever says about the custom message MOD is if you just click 'Me' to go back and from there go on and try or actually click 'Me' and then 'Done' and then proceed. It makes no difference (still failure to load), but when there's an irritating problem like this it helps when someone who gets it working is VERY specific about what they had done to get theirs working. I was thinking not allowing Messenger to share my phone contacts was it, but nope.. no change trying that ether! I was thinking it was because FB notifications were off. Nope.. same failure! FB needs to fix this!

Just updated to iOS 11.3.1 yesterday and WatchOS to 4.3. No change.. still doesn't load

It’s working now after upgrading my X to iOS 12 and AW3 to Watch OS 5. I don’t know which update did it though.
