Apple Watch 4 and Apple Giveback

As part of the ordering of the Apple Watch 4 you can do Apple Giveback for your old watch, I know it's not the most economical alternative, but if you do use it - will I have to send in my watch immediately, considering that the watch now has a delivery date of mid-october that doesn't sound all that appealing...
