I have been using Apple Watch SS Silver since Series 1 and now I am wondering if I should get the gold version.

I have many bands which match the silver SS Watch. Wondering if I can use the band with the gold watch.

Which bands will look good with the gold SS Watch? I know there is a gold Milanese loop and stone sports band. Apart from these, which will match the gold SS Watch?

The gold will have more limitations as far as band pairing, with the regular stainless steel Apple Watch, that’s nearly infinite with band pairing. If that’s your major concern, then I would opt for the regular stainless. I do like the new gold stainless in general however.

Yeah I am tempted to get the gold as it does look nice. However I like to change my bands 2 to 3 times in a week.

I have about 15 bands collected since series 1 and would be sad if they won’t match the gold.

From the bands available now at Apple which ones will look good with the gold SS?

I think any band will work well as long as the connector isn't the stainless steel bright silver color. The link bracelet will work well though since the whole thing is silver, not just the connector.

With the gold stainless, I would look at darker color themes, such as brown, black, forest green, even a navy color would work for the gold stainless. I also switch bands regularly, and I have over 20 bands, all in which I like to make unique by interchanging quits frequently

I have the silver links and Milanese bands from Apple and 3rd party black links and Milanese band. These will not match the gold well right?

May I should take my bands to the Apple store to check. Hehe.

That’s exactly what I would do, take your bands to the Apple Watch store and compare them in person to see your own perspective. I think everyone has their own preference in style, all that matters is what you like. But the gold stainless, darker colors will highlight the gold.

The gold is so unique and will have a plethora of options that are in stock now to try and Apple will be releasing more soon I assume we head into the holiday time.

The silver is nice, but the gold.....wow

Thanks.

Will go to the Apple Store tomorrow to check out the watches.

By the way, this year will be using the Gold IPhone XS Max.

Used the Silver one last year. Gold looks nice so decided to get the gold phone but the bands for the Watch is making me think twice about the gold watch.

I know the Gold one looks nice but I don’t want to waste the bands I already own.

Are there any 3rd party bands available now with gold connectors?

I am not a big band changer. I want a formal one for work (milanese and pending leather release I am sure) and then a sport loop or leather loop for the weekends and casual time.

Thats all I need.

I've had the SS Silver since S0 and was also tempted to go SS Gold this time, but at the end decided against it because I feel that my band choices will be limited.

I know the space black has a DLC coating that is awesome.
I understand that PVD is the process that is used for the gold.
Benefits of PVD are:
  • Durability
  • Corrosion resistant
  • Longer lifetime
It sound like a better choice that shiny SS

Does the gold offer any extra protection against scratches? I know the space black has a DLC coating that is awesome.
If not why bother with it.

Yes, the gold stainless offers a PVD coating, which is the exact same coating that was used on the space gray iPhone X. PVD is not as durable (More specifically, as hard) as DLC, but it does have an added layer of protection.

I am actually in the same boat and I had already pre-ordered the silver aluminum. But after watching more videos & reviews, the new shade of gold looks really nice and my brand new glasses have a touch of gold so I'm thinking a gold watch would match better. These videos never really sway me on my color choice but it looks much nicer than the golds of previous years.

I have bands from my S2 and hope most of them would look nice but it's hard to tell. When the displays go up on Friday, I'll just have to go take a look in person. Bringing in your bands is a good idea. As for 3rd party bands, you should really wait a little while for manufacturers to get the gold tone right. I would def want a gold Milanese to match but best to hold off if you don't want to spend $150 on the official Apple one.

EDIT: I remembered that Apple had that interactive watch band site but looks like they've taken it down for now. :(

Interesting. I know now that Gold may not even be used as Titanium Nitride is a choice to give it a gold tone and hardness. My next SS may be the Gold Tone but not till series 5

Clockwork Synergy lets you choose a matching lug and buckle colour for any of their straps:

You can see the adapter/buckle options here:

https://www.clockworksynergy.com/shop/product-category/accessories/

If the colours don't seem right for you, shoot them an email, they are very responsive and will advise on what works best.

I really hope that comes back as it was beautiful and interested to see which bands look good with the Gold.

Brushed gold from the site is not the same as the new Apple Watch Gold.

That’s why I suggested you pop them an email. I’m sure they will add to their range now an SS gold watch is available.

If the gold blows me away I might go with it. I don’t see that I’ll be much of a ‘band switcher’ simply because I’m such a tightwad and won’t own any more than maybe five or six bands, especially at Apple prices. The one that comes with it, a leather one for sure, perhaps a milanese, and maybe one or two sport bands or sport loops. That makes about six right there.
OK, nevermind.

I bought the Apple Watch Gold with the Milanese loop. It looks amazing and I couldn’t resist not getting it.

I took my bands and found the silver bands look fine with the gold and so does the black.

Brown leather bands will also look nice and some sports bands.

So it is not so bad.

Just need gold adapters for the leather bands (especially the brown leather bands)
