Hi,

I currently have a pebble time steel and want to jump into the apple watch camp.

Is 40mm a good size or is 44mm too big?

I'm basing this off my Pebble Time Steel size:

47 mm × 37.5 mm × 10.5 mm (1.85 in × 1.48 in × 0.41 in) (Pebble Time Steel)

Being that you have never experienced an Apple Watch before, my suggestion would be maybe to wait until the 21st where Apple and third-party retailers will have them for size comparison in store, then make your decision based off that. Anyone can recommend what they want, but it’s really dependent on what you’re comfortable with and wrist size.

You really have to go to a store and try them out on your wrist. Whether something is "too big" has a lot of subjectivity to it and no one can tell except you.

From my understanding, Apple have pictures of the dimensions online. Maybe you can print them out and make a “Apple Watch” and place them on your wrist to see how it look. I have the 42mm Apple Watch Series 2 and preordered the 44mm Series 4. I’m used to the screen size of the 42mm Series 2.

Under the mobile app, you can select the Apple Watch you want, and then under the sizes, it says ‘compare case sizes’, which will give you actual representations of what the Apple Watch will look like.
