What are some features you guys/gals hope for the next Apple Watch to have. I may be pushing it, but I'd like to have some kind of blood pressure monitoring, really good sleep monitoring, and a way for you watch to let you know when you're getting far away from your phone.

I would like to see longer battery life. 3 days would be great. I would love to see the Nike watch faces available on the stainless steel version. Blood pressure monitor would be nice. Also a bigger color palate for the faces.

You have a better chance at winning the Publisher’s Clearing House Sweepstakes than seeing the first two options happen this year. Blood Pressure is 2+ years away. We will see some new color pallets with WatchOS 7.

For me, pulse ox, better battery, and more complications.

Would love to see better battery life and selfishly I'd like to see the option for sapphire glass on the (non-cellular) GPS model as I have no interest/need for cellular capability on a watch.

For sleep tracking, as I currently have issues sleeping with a thick watch, I'd like to see the watch become thinner, but hopefully (although unrealistic) not at the expense of a shorter battery life.

Phone Buddy in the App Store is a great app that lets you know when you’re being separated from the phone and vice versa. I’ve been asking for this feature for a while but I’m really happy with Phone Buddy. Don’t think Apple would implement as many features as this app has. Either way this should be a software update, not hardware.

It needs to be thinner. Hoping that new thinner screen tech (hence the removal of Force Touch?) plus battery density improvements plus more efficient S-series processor can allow for this. Even a marginal decrease in thickness would be noticeable.

Obviously this would have to be done without sacrificing battery life. In fact I’d like to see that improved by another ~20% to ensure it lasts the whole day even under heavy workloads. By extension, this would allow 2- or even 3-day battery life for light users since the current one can almost do that.

A slightly improved GPS. Anything over 3 miles and my watch runs long; longer than anyone I run with no matter what watch they have (that is non-Apple).

Same here. Just love the AW, but the only thing I miss, is a decent battery life. Max. 1 day for a watch is simply not enough.
For all that it does, especially with the different complications available, I can see why it’s only last a day with the series 5. It would be nice to get 1.5 - 2 days on a charge but, I am not complaining. My series 5 will last me my normal day, provided I don’t try to use it for my runs, which are usually long. I have to use a different Apple Watch for that or use my Suunto.

Considering WatchOS 7, the main hardware feature will be a sleep sensor or something related, previous watches can do sleep tracking but only by software... maybe slightly cosmetical changes like the removal of the red circle on the LTE versions.

If Apple were going to require new hardware for their sleep tracking app, I doubt they would have enabled it for series 3 - 5. I think Apple got rid of 3D Touch to make room for the SPo2 sensor.

Fast charge

You know, I haven't been creative enough in my thinking. I'd much prefer a doubling of battery life, but doubling the charge speed would, mostly accomplish the same thing. It just needs to get to 100% while I shower. Unfortunately AW5 can't do that and requires dedicated charging time.

Without one of these I won't be buying an AW this year.

I'd also be happy to see better podcast syncing either through Overcast, Apple Podcasts or some other 3rd party.

From what I’ve seen of watchOS 7, the sleep tracking is pretty basic. My guess is that AW6 will take advantage of the new SpO2 sensor to do a basic form sleep apnea detection/tracking (analogous to the EKG in AW4) in addition to more advanced sleep tracking. Combine this with some dedicated low-power circuitry specifically for sleep tracking and a fast charge feature (for morning recharges), I could see AW6 being a much better sleep tracker.

Of course, you can still use your old watch and/or third party apps, but I’m guessing Apple’s vertical integration plus their dedicated health research team could make it a stand-out feature on AW6.

I don’t see this happening, but personally I’d love to see a return to the 42mm size. I find it was the sweet spot in terms of size.

If they can remove some of the bezel it could look just as big as the current 44mm.
Perhaps make the edges less ‘bulbous’ and slim it down further.

You have it on the older watches because it was a feature required a lot for most users, and most users of course won't change a year old watch(series 5) for something like that.
Series 6 will do a more accurate tracking thanks to the SPo2 sensor or any other the will include.

Or even the same thickness but instead of the space used for force touch, use it for more battery. Lol at force touch by the way.

Fast charge
You’d have to imagine that this will be a key feature of AW6 along with enhanced sleep tracking (sleep apnea etc) - & blood oxygen measurement.

If you’re going to be encouraged to wear the watch all day and all night charging up to full in 30-45 minutes (whilst you get ready in the AM) is going to be crucial.

I’d like to see the same sort of charge response as AirPods or the Beats ‘fast fuel’ where 5-10 mins will get you enough power for a 45-60 min work out for example.

But maybe the idea is that we’ll be able to charge our Apple Watch 6s on the iPhone 12 Pro devices (and any standard QI wireless mat) so watch battery anxiety will become a thing of the past - for those that upgrade.

Better sleep tracking not just duration, but REM Sleep and better insights. The Oura Ring for example is a lot more detailed in this regard
