Can you set up an Apple Watch 9 in the US with UK settings and have the blood oxygen app working? UK users have the app in working order.

Perhaps set up through a proxy? Is this possible?

Thank you

No, the SpO2 “disablement” is done for a particular model number only. dont remember the # but it’s been mentioned in thissubforum and on the news page multiple times

Thank you. I’ve had every apple product for 15 years and this is the first one I’ve regretted buying. (Watch, ipad, imac, mbp, iphone, AirPods, etc). I sold a perfectly good 8 to buy the 9 and lost features. Apple could have settled this 6 months ago for their users and came to an agreement on the patents.

I was one or the unfortunate ones to buy my watch in the week this all went down. Since Verizon shipped it to me i couldn’t know if it would be locked out until i got it.

You can find a great deal on a new Apple Watch Series 8 or even the 6 in stainless for $500 dollars and under, new condition and unlocked in Walmart. They still have blood oxygen. Only if you do not need double tap or the 2nd gen Ultra Wideband chip which is necessary for Precision Finding your iPhone 15, and on device Siri.

The listing for the Apple Watch Series 6 I upgraded to for $245 (which is the price of an Apple Watch SE 40mm) and the Series 8 version is out of stock but if you search it in the Walmart website and exclude refurbished and used ones there will be a couple of options to choose from. All of them have the blood oxygen feature. You may be able to find a S9 with it as well but check the model number to make sure it has no LW/A on it, and it must be manufactured before January 2024.
