In a new ad shared on its YouTube channel today, Apple highlighted how the Apple Watch alerted an athlete named Connor to signs of atrial fibrillation. Apple said doctors later uncovered that Connor had a congenital heart condition, which resulted in him having open-heart surgery, so the Apple Watch potentially saved his life.

After noticing he had a very fast heart rate while training for a triathlon, Connor used the ECG app on his Apple Watch, which detected signs of atrial fibrillation.

The ECG app comes preinstalled on the Apple Watch Series 4 and newer and all Apple Watch Ultra models, but it is not available on any Apple Watch SE models.

I love my Apple Watch for motivating me to stay fit.

I just wish Apple love it as much as we do and making more meaningful improvements to Apple Watch, watchOS, Apple Health app, and Fitness+.
Agreed, I really want to see more focus on health features with the watch, Siri AI adds no real value to the AW for me.
The last time we got a new HW/sensor health feature was wrist temp with the S8, its long overdue and I am sceptic that the S12/U4 has any thing new to offer.
There have been SW changes for sleep apnea and hypertension and I like that ...

I always figured the heart only had so many built-in beats. When you reach that number, then time is up. I suppose that running for health increases that number count. A very good reason not to exercise, and to drink beer.

Recently i was alerted to have signs of hypertension on my Apple Watch and indeed i had stopped my medication for a while out of carelessness. This prompted me to start my medication again, got to give Apple credit for this one 👍

I finally gave up on the Apple Watch as a product last year. Lots of bells and whistles I don't use with a lack of watch face options, reduced durability, toy-like aesthetics and terrible battery life being the only mainstays of the product line. Apple's battery life solution was to offer marginal improvements for $400 USD more. My Coros bumps into stuff all the time and I have yet to even put a scratch on it in 9 months - and the battery lasts over two weeks.
