I have an Apple Watch Ultra 2. Love it and it’s probably the best Apple device I’ve bought in a decade.

But I am also curious about the Oura 4. I’ve heard that its insight on your readiness and its ability to tell if you are getting sick are helpful.

Does anyone have an Apple Watch and a Oura? Is it worth having both? Is there is something the Oura tells you that the watch doesn’t?

Just trying to make sure I don’t buy something I will never use.

Thanks!

A friend of mine has an Oura, because he didn't like wearing his Apple Watch all the time.

Personally I wear my watch literally 24/7 other than an hour or so recharging every couple of days. To me, the Oura watch seems superfluous.

But if you like tech, and you think there'd be a benefit ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Vaya con Dios! Enjoy!

I have both and I think they supplement each other well. Apple Watch is a better fitness tracker, but Oura is a better sleep tracker in my opinion. Lately I only wear the ring to sleep as its thick for a ring. The Oura app also gives better insights than Apple Health. While Apple Health has a wealth of information, it does not present it in a way that is useful. Oura gives a Readiness Score and also things like stress, etc. and just presents the overall data in a better way. I had a bad head cold not long ago and Oura was able to detect that and said I was showing major signs of illness.

Granted, there are 3rd party apps that can do alot of the same things that Oura does and presents them in a way that is better than the Apple Health app. Oura also has a monthly subscription that is not great, but I do like it overall especially if you don't like wearing a watch to bed.

I suppose if you do not want to wear an AW for sleep tracking, for whatever reason, and you do want sleep tracking, the Oura will work. It is also my understanding that it requires a subscription.
So, if you want to have both, sure, why not. Does it make sense, don’t know, only you can answer.

This is a good point. I actually haven’t shopped around for apps that may give stress or other health insight. I’ll take a look.

I have both an AWU2 and an Oura Ring 4. I love the Oura Ring 4 for the automatic tracking of my walking while I’m at work, the sleep tracking, stress readiness tracking, and my chronotype which it’s still in the process I’m since I haven’t had my ring a full 90 days. I’ve had my ring since 11/22/25. I used my FSA dollars to pay up front yearly for the membership and I’ll do that for the time being. I do wear both my Apple Watch and my Oura ring 4 to bed at night, for the silent alarm on my watch and my bbt temperature at night for my cycle. Also having blood oxygen sensor that doesn’t fall off at night and monitors my levels at night while I use my CPAP machine has been a godsend.
