My work is super excited.

I work at the corporate office where all the higher ups like the latest and greatest. So they're probably gonna buy a few on the company card.

I work in the IT department, so usually the company buys the latest and greatest for us too so we can "provide support" ;)

Will depend on your workplace. If people currently cannot wear android werables, apple watch is out.

If that's the case maybe you could switch the watch to power reserve mode during work hours and use it as a regular watch.

Employers who have a strict policy about phones and cameras will seldom accept that you will secure your watch. Restricting the device is their only answer. I used to work for a company with a like policy and it could be cause for termination. It will vary from one company to another.

If you can afford that model you're in the wrong industry.

But you could share the wealth with us though.

Apple has an electronics/camera ban in certain areas. Would you give up a decent job for the sake of taking your watch off?

If work bans electronic devices that means it is a 'career' not a 'job'. There are lots of security issues with this stuff. Maybe not with the watch but they exist.

I have been a programmer all of my life before retirement and ONE of the companies I worked for had some people on secure government contracts. They were not allowed to mingle with others. We actually called them the 'spooks' because if you saw one at the end of a hallway they would be out of sight through a locked door before we got up the hall.

I could not have even a radio at that place. Quitting a job that pays $100,000 a year (not a lot now but good in the 80's) because I cannot bring in a camera would have been silly.
Not when there are 100 other companies who will pay you the same amount or more and let you wear your watch....

This has me wondering if the Watch will support WPA-Enterprise (802.11x) so I can connect it to our corporate WiFi.

Considering the watch works hand in hand with your phone and doesn't use a separate Wi-Fi connection I would have thought this was a moot point. As long as your phone can connect you should be good to go.

I was making the joke since he said "hot fryer" which is a huge frying device for making fried foods.

Our company is pretty lax about phone usages. However, I have found myself becoming distracted more often with my phone lately, so having the watch is actually helping keep me focused. I just glance at a notification, and if it is important, I'll answer. Otherwise, it will wait until my next break.

I work in a factory and generally we're not supposed to take phones in to the factory as they cause distractions. I imagine this should stretch to the watch too but everybody takes their phone in anyway and most people probably wouldn't notice it.

Generally speaking, on my shift we're pretty relaxed about using phones to tell the time or read a quick message but more than a minute is usually worthy of being told to put it away and get working. Nobody seems to notice when I stare at my watch for minutes at a time tapping and scrolling on the screen though :D

anything with bluetooth or wifi is banned in my work place, but since you can put the watch into airplane mode, i am safe! :)

Retail and hospital here. We're not supposed to have our phones on us (beepers for medical) but the apple watch is fine. Maybe they just don't know much about it haha.

Since the watch is technically not a phone and doesn't have a camera, I doubt it will be much of an issue for most.

One more reason I don't want to see space wasted on a camera in Watch 2. Adding a recording option to the device will further limit the places in which it can be used.

Yea, they should remove the camera from your iPhone too so you can take it more places.

I'm a preschool teacher. No phones out or on you during work. I figure if I disable the Bluetooth on my phone and don't receive any notifications, or at the very least, use do not disturb, then I'll be fine.

Recently, I read of two incidents that describe annoying behaviors to others due to compulsions brought on by smart phones.

"PATTI LUPONE TAKE A TEXTING WOMAN'S CELLPHONE FROM THE AUDIENCE & WALK OFF STAGE WITH IT IN HAND."

"This all comes in the same week in which a man jumped on to a Broadway stagejust before a performance to charge his iPhone."

With an Apple Watch, it's much more subtle to send a text reply than on a phone. We all can agree with that. I would only do so as an immediate response to something urgent. Additionally, there is little glare from the AW in a darkened theater.

I can see the difference between using technology and being used by technology.

Government job here. No personal electronic devices allowed. They are trying to update the policy but it will still not allow anything with audio or video capture capability. So I may have to just get a Fitbit instead...
