Apps Apple Watch Camera App

Since one of the major watch updates a year or so ago, the camera app hasn't worked on my watch. Has anyone else tried it recently? I was trying to take a group pic the other day and was trying it with the camera app on the watch. It just hiccups and keeps trying to see the iPhone camera. Wondering if I should reset my watch? I'm using the 42mm SS, first gen with iPhone 7 plus.

No problems here. Also a 7+ and first gen, but mine's the 38mm.
