How would he know the numbers are wrong??? He has no way of knowing eitherAnyways, Neil Cybart has this to say with regards to this article.
Ouch.
I haven't had any problems with my Fenix 6S or previous Fenix 5S (or previous Garmin triathlon watches). I've been using Garmin watches for longer than the Apple watch has existed.I’d ask you what kind experience you have with Garmin. Their software struggles, which is their major pitfall. Their hardware is actually very good, but in terms of OS support and stability coupled with unpatched issues, It’s consistently not good. If you have poor OS for a smart watch, then what good is the hardware experience? (Rhetorical)
I have the first gen Apple Watch that is unfortunately no longer software upgradable. I wish Apple wasn’t so quick to drop support for it. I guess I will break down and upgrade when the Next gen is available.
So like with the butterfly keyboard, Apple has the gall and poor ethics to experiment on its customers who have paid full price for the products. Why not have its thousands of employees use these experimental products to see how they perform before enticing the unsuspecting public to hand over its hard earned cash? You say the first get watch was "merely an experiment". So I guess it was only merely unfair to take cash from the public. The first GEN Apple Watch was merely an experiment to see really how it would perform and ultimately it struggled with watchOS updates, but we’re starting to see the Apple Watch S-processors become more powerful
The apple watch series 0 was experimental in the same way the iphone 1 was experimental. I bought my son the apple watch series 0 as a graduation gift after it came out. He used it for 3.5 years until the battery gave out and then bought himself a current model. Imagine, the iphone 1 not even having cut and paste, how the heck could that have been missed in testing...and the thing was expensive at $599. I guess their thousands of employees didn't use the iphone 1. How the heck could Apple in it's stand-up way take money from the public, and this under SJ?So like with the butterfly keyboard, Apple has the gall and poor ethics to experiment on its customers who have paid full price for the products. Very shoddy way to run a business.
And it is Square body instead of Circle. I wonder if we will ever see it fixed.
Anyways, Neil Cybart has this to say with regards to this article.
Ouch.
The problem is, Neil is unwilling to say HOW bad the numbers are...
There's a certain type of personality that considers it a huge deal that the number of Apple watches shipped was, say, 7.3M not 7.6M. (This is the same as the people who think it's a huge deal that an i9900K gets say 56 on GB4, whereas A13 gets 54, therefore the i9900K is clearly faster.)
Some people cannot ever get past the exact numbers to look at the bigger picture.
But for ME the picture that matters is that for the first few years Apple was shipping about 1M watches a month. In 2019 they were at around 2M a month. That's what's interesting, not arguing about whether it was 2.1M per month vs 1.92M per month.
👍He might cover it in a future article (I am subscribed to his newsletter). Typically, his musings form part of his research process on articles he is writing about. Will update here if there is any further insight.
Yeah, that always-on display is a real battery sucker. It should still be enough to see you through a day.I just recently purchase the s5 coming from s4 and the battery on my s5 does not last as long the s4 did.
Yeah mine just about lasts a day. Off charge at 8am and by 23:00 it’s on about 5% left. This is with no workouts though so if i did a 40 min workout like i used to before this issue we have in the world then it would be dead by 9pm-10pmYeah, that always-on display is a real battery sucker. so for S6 battery life improvements is enough for me to upgrade
If you need more battery life, there’s always the option of disabling said feature, but I am not expecting any significant improvements to battery life where always-on display is concerned.
