I've just got my Apple watch a couple of weeks ago. I got around to setting up some default replies for Messages, but when I go to a conversation and hit reply it just gives me the long default list that Apple set. None of my default replies which I set show up -- I've powered my phone and watch on and off too.

I think I DO see the replies I set when someone sends me a message and I hit reply (at least it works sometimes.) However if I go to Notifications and reply from there, or the Messages app, it doesn't work. The same happens with Messenger.

Anyone experienced this or know how to fix it?

Appreciate any help!

I had the same problem until i saw that all my custom replies was all down there in the list... not in the order you set them up on your iPhone

Oh wow they are too. I didn't notice because most of them blend in with the Apple replies... How can I get rid of all those other options though? I don't need or want any of them, in fact, it kind of makes it useless for me because I have to scroll the list to find the answers I set.

Unfortunately, we don't have that option.

Ahh, that is most unfortunate... Hopefully Apple will rectify this in a future update as it sort of defeats the purpose of being able to set default replies haha.

Maybe it is sorted by most used ? Just an thought but i don't think so... I rarely use this function. Mostly microphone to answer

Yeah, not sure. I tried it out today and found it was a bit of a hassle searching through the list to find my premade answers. I answer with those a lot, and almost never any of Apple's default stuff. Siri on the other hand worked well, was pretty handy.

Same problem here, also my long list of replies included some weird replies like NP, sec..., BRB, ??? I tried my best to try and delete the ones I wouldn't use with no luck

I don't believe you can just delete what you don't use and leave a blank line, if you filled in every line with something you might use then Apple's pre-set ones should all be gone.

Just out of curiosity, do you not know what NP and BRB mean or do you just not use them? I never use BRB but use NP all the time.

I think if you just rename all the default Apple ones, this is the only way to get rid of them....

I'm guessing here...No Problem...Be Right Back...?

I asked that question because telefono didn't seem to be familiar with those abbreviations but they are common text speak, I thought maybe I was missing something in his response...

Argh this is so annoying.

If I receive a notification in Messages and tilt my wrist and hit reply, I see only my responses. But if I swipe down to get to my missed notifications, tap one, and then reply, it's Apple's responses -- and it's the same if I go into the app directly and hit reply.

Messenger on the other hand works in the app, and when I respond immediately, but shows Apple's responses if I hit reply from a missed notification.

I've even set my default replies in the Messages app so that they have (a) at the front of them in order to push them up to the top. Did that work? No.

I set ALL the other responses I don't use to "z1-14", hoping that they get pushed to the bottom. Did that work? No. It doesn't replace Apple's default 21 responses that appear first.

So frustrating.......
