That's quite a stretch. The Watch is nice, but it doesn't really collect that much health info.
That isn't what I was saying. There are no restrictions to people's data in China. All of the privacy features we enjoy on iOS don't come to Chinese phones. All those fancy iOS 15 features aren't going to be in Chinese iPhones. Apple has completely bent over backwards to appease the CCP with their devices and services and it's disgusting. There's no stretch in what I said. They have zero privacy laws in China. Period.

First of all, that isn't true. The one major difference is that iCloud is hosted by a state-owned company.

Based on what?

This long process of getting approval all over the world is probably the reason we are not getting new health sensors on a yearly basis. Also, when are we going to get a basic thermometer on our watch? Sounds basic enough to me.
I blame Karens and tech incompetent people.
They'll be given a watch and told it'll help track a-fib and whatnot... then when they have a problem and the watch doesn't go off they need an excuse so they aren't responsible, they blame the watch.

This is why the FDA is super strict in this field and makes it painful -- people are stupid and absolutely do not like personal responsibility.

So those of us who know better and simply want more and better tools just get looked over because the dumbest of our population can't control themselves.

It is true. I don't know if you've been living under a rock. The "state-owned" company is controlled by the CCP and the encyption keys along with the servers are in the hands of China now. They no longer have to ask Apple permission for these keys and have full access to everyone's data in China. Apple continues to appease China's requests. They pulled an app at the request of the CCP that was being used to hold protests in favor of Democracy and freedom. It should make you uncomfortable what Apple is doing to help China. This isn't a conspiracy theory. China is modern day Nazi germany, complete with concentration camps and all.

Yes, that's true of iCloud.

It's not true of any iPhone privacy features, nor of ECG, unless you sync your Health data with iCloud.

Actually, those features are available. I am currently in China, currently using the Chinese version of the iPhone 12 Pro Max and I can tell you that iOS 15 features are fully working here, including private relay. I am using my Japanese iCloud account, however, so all my data is stored in Japan and all the features are also available.

Back on topic: It is nice to see that ECG is working now. If only foreigners could use the cellular version´s eSim in China. That is a thing reserved to citizen with an actual ID for now…

Some of the delays are down to Apple refusing to apply in advance because they don’t want to spoil the feature reveal before a keynote.

Apple takes health seriously. But marketing even more seriously.

You're using a beta. Relay will be removed when the final version is released. And if you're using Japanese iCloud then we're not talking about the same thing.
