This is pretty much exactly what I was imagining. I would use it all the time.
Wouldn't your arm need be straight down the whole time for this concept to work?

Or maybe it would be a complication that will make the screen white when you press it..I'd be happy if the "flashlight" was simply an app that made the entire watch face white.

Talk about blocking and unblocking the flashlight as you move your wrist up and down. No thanks!
They could make a suction cup add on that would redirect the light up 3 inches before it moves forward so you could have full range of your wrist. Or simply learn to use it as designed.
2nd gen will have it for sure. And it will be thinner, be more useful
For sure.
I suppose it would be extremely easy for a developer to make a simple app that lights up the screen bright white with a single push of the icon. I do not think there would be a flashlight unless and until Apple puts a camera with flash on the watch, which is very unlikely in the near future.
reading a menu in a dark restaurant, opening the door when the outside lights are off . .. having a subtle light on your left hand would leave the right one free. sounds better than using my phone. Plus you can't drop it.
I would definitely rather have the laser instead of the flashlight
After reading that, I immediately thought of Buzz Lightyear!
I'm sure it was near the very beginning of whatever it was and was Star Trek.
Imagine pressing the crown in, for instance, and the center of the crown could contain an LED for the flashlight.
Check out the second photo with Neelix.

[doublepost=1458185981][/doublepost]If you take a picture of a white screen on your iPhone. Then create an album of just that white screen photo then sync that album with your watch you now have a version of the original screen flash light.I was thinking about different ways the Apple Watch could be used in place of pulling your iPhone out of your pocket. One thing I find myself using constantly is the flashlight function on my iPhone. It seems like the watch would be a perfect place for this function. The obvious battery life concerns aside, I hope we see this in later revisions. Imagine pressing the crown in, for instance, and the center of the crown could contain an LED for the flashlight. Or maybe you would shake your wrist for light.
Anyone else think this would be an awesome (obvious?) addition to the watch?
Perfect for all those selfies people want to take!An Apple watch Flashlight app is not practical just based on the fact that you'd have to twist your wrist in an awkward fashion just to illuminate something unless your goal is to illuminate your face.
I agree. Great feature. This, to me, actually sounds like a killer feature.
Point at a would be attacker for temporary blindness to get away. Ok that might be a bit much.reading a menu in a dark restaurant, opening the door when the outside lights are off . .. having a subtle light on your left hand would leave the right one free. sounds better than using my phone.
