My wife has mentioned a few times she would like a Fitbit..... 🤔

We both own iphones and I have a S6 Apple watch which is great. I am thinking of getting her an Apple watch which she seems less enthused! My question to you chaps is, which one to get her? She won't use the itunes music on it and does not need cellular. Therefore I was thinking of maybe the 40mm SE model (ÂŁ250)? I see the new S7 GPS are going to be ÂŁ369 which might be the best one?

This all said, the Fitbits are SO much cheaper..!

They're different devices. She might want a Fitbit because other folks in her social circle use one and they want to compete. She's obviously seen your watch. If she wants the Fitbit I'd get her the Fitbit, unless she's making the decision out of a genuine position of ignorance (maybe she thinks that the AW cannot count steps, or she thinks that the Fitbit is more feature rich than it is)

Or she just saw a fitbit she liked. They have some that look a bit more like a bracelet.

Probably best to talk to her and ask what she wants it for and why

There’s nothing that a woman loves more than to have her preference ignored and overruled by a man. If she prefers a Fitbit, then why not get her the best one they make? It’ll still be cheaper than an AW. And, it would be a thoughtful, generous gift that took her opinion into account.

But don't give it to her until she has made the dinner and done the dishes.

(I AM JOKING BTW!!!!!!!!)

My wife always declined the idea of me buying her an AW on the basis that she wouldn’t use it, despite me having one. We went into Covent Garden apple store for something unrelated and she happened to stand listening to one of the specialists doing a demo of an AW to a potential customer. After which she said she would like to try. That was a S3 and she’s never been without an AW since ! 3 and 4 were aluminium and her 5 and 6 SS and she’s got a S7 SS coming on Sunday.

Yesss! One should always keep an open mind! I used to say that I'd never pay that much for a gadget-watch. Then, I got my S4 as a bday gift from my family and now upgrading it to the 7. Using it 22.5 hours a day, 365 days a year. It stays off my wrist only when I charge it (about 1.5 hours a day). So happy for the fast charging, among other features.

Well do you know why she wants a Fitbit instead of an Apple Watch? Has she showed any interest on your AW?

Most people look at the initial cost rather than the TCO. The value you get from the AW is unbeatable IMO :)

She is lucky that you would consider buying her something better.
My thoughts exactly. You don’t know until you try it yourself.

Since you’ve already brought up the Apple Watch to her, and she seemed enthused, it sounds like she would like an Apple Watch. Maybe she thought it wasn’t an option? Only one way to find out — ask her which model she wants.

I would want a loved one to have the most advanced wearable there is — that is the Apple Watch, not the Fitbit.

EDIT: I read the post incorrectly — it actually says his wife is “less enthused” about the Apple Watch. Seems like pretty obvious decision now.
