Hey,

I've recently begun the transition from Samsung across to Apple (Macbook/ iPhone 17 Pro / AirPods Pro 3), but one area I'm struggling with is what to do when it comes to replacing my Samsung Watch 6 Classic.

The 6 Classic was a great timepiece as far as fit, size and aesthetics went (I had a modified bezel to make it look like a more traditional dive watch), but one area where it really struggled was battery life (unable to even make a standard work day 8-10 hours).

Ideally I want the integration into the ecosystem that an Apple Watch would bring, but I find the design horrendous (I'm sorry, it just looks terrible), I had considered the Ultra 3 as a utility watch to wear exclusively when doing more active focused activities but I'm cursed with "small" wrists meaning the 49mm size watch is simply a no-go (I think my Samsung is only 43mm and my other more traditional watches range from 38mm-42mm).

What options do I realistically have or am I pretty much locked out of the Apple ecosystem when it comes to the watch side of things due to my physical limitations and personal preferences?

TIA

do a search here in this forum as the question of "how does this look on my small wrists" has been discussed hundreds of times...
I assume you know that the SE comes in 40/44 and the regular comes in 42/46, those are the only choices you have besides the Ultra.
Have you ever put any of the AWs onto your wrist? That would be my first recommendation, then you get to see in real life what it looks like, and if if you like that look.

There are also several threads like "what features do you use most" and "what features would you miss if you gave up your AW".

For me personally (had AWs for 10+ years) having an Ultra 2 right now, the key features are: fitness/health tracking, Apple Pay, Mac unlock, the ability to do 911 calls, fall detection, AFib, hypertension and over the years I've learned to manage notification in a way that they add value, there's more but those are the ones that come to mind first.

I have small wrists and wear an Ultra.

But agreed, it's personal preference.

You could also consider Garmin if you don't like the Apple Watch.

Apple doesn't seem to care much about the watch anymore. The design of the standard watch has gotten extremely stale with no signs of any meaningful design changes for the upcoming series 12. The series 10 was supposed to be a big redesign but they just made it 1mm thinner with thicker glass bezels and a more square aspect ratio. To me, the series 7-9 looked much better. Watch OS26 didn't do much for the watch and it completely ruined the activity app. You get 1-2 new watch faces released a year and the last few years they have been pretty ugly. It doesn't appear a round watch is ever coming. Ive seen a couple samsung watches at work and they are better looking than the apple watch to me. The ultra looks a little better than the series 11 but I didn't care for the thickness so I returned it and got a refurb series 9 for cheap to use when working out. Most of the time I just wear a dumb watch now. Hopefully in the next few years apple actually releases something new and fresh instead of the same stuff over and over again.
