I'm in the same boat. Don't know whether to future proof myself and go for cellular. Is that $100 the same price difference to the series 3? I need to wait and see UK prices.

I thought the choice had been removed and they would lol be cellular. Now I’m in the same boat.

I ended up cancelling my cellular service on my S3. What I found is that with T-Mobile, when my iPhone and Apple Watch were both either turned off, or in airplane mode, or out of cell service range, someone calling my number found that they just got silence for over 12 seconds. I think this also happened with "do not disturb." Eventually, they would get my voice mail. But, with the long wait, people often just thought there was something wrong with my phone or the line and hung up before being connected. When I took this up with T-Mobile, I was told that this was because their system, after finding that the phone was not available, would then take time searching for the watch, before eventually giving up. As soon as I canceled the watch cell service, calls resumed going straight into voice mail when the phone was in airplane mode, etc. I didn't miss the watch cell service very much.

Can you add a third option called "Cellular, but forced because I want stainless steel".

I have zero desire for the cellular features, but will have the technology because I want a stainless steel watch.

Many of us had the same question for S3. I have cellular but dropped the plan. At least for me, the possibility of calling 911 is worth the additional cost. As an emergency backup if you forget or lose or don't have your phone. Having the plan was ok, but I am too cheap to pay for it each month.

You technically do not need cellular for 911 services. If you have a non-cellular Watch and call 911, it will use your iPhone if it is connected. If it is not connected, it will use WiFi calling if you have that enabled via what is called E911 (enhanced 911). Nothing enhanced about it, just using WiFi.

If you are out for a run without the phone (or some other activity outside of Wifi reach), the cellular version will be able to make a 911 call. For me and my wife, that piece of mind is worth $100. We both are on networks that don't support AW cellular service and buy the cellular versions for this reason.

Same boat here. Tried Series 1 and 2 in the past and ended up returning both within the 14 days window since I didn't like the fact those were not fully water proof and really didn't find much of added value. However, really tempted now to get the new Series 4 and not sure if the cellular option worth it or not. I normally don't get away too far or leave my phone behind.

Is that documented somewhere, is makes sense unless there is a loophole in 911 requirements. That would be a good reason to upgrade. I didn't because of the hassle or being unable to switch to some carriers.
