We’d like to think that is the case. However, blood pressure is variable. Problems with it are easily missed by healthcare providers because on the day someone goes to get a check up that person might just happen to have lower blood pressure than normal. I have an extended family member who has excellent healthcare, but who had a blood pressure issue that was missed. This family member ended up having a large stroke. Something like this might have alerted the individual to a potential problem.
Also I suppose health workers can wrongly link it to being nervous at the doctors visit so they disregard it

Quite surprised and happy it will be available on my 10. I’m already on medication for high blood pressure but I feel like something is still off with me, so this will be an added check.

Yes, that’s a common effect. I expect most healthcare providers understand that they shouldn’t just discount a higher reading as “nerves” but it's likely some do. I’ve had that effect before when I was a teenager decades ago but I didn’t and still don’t have high blood pressure. The healthcare team did not want to assume my blood pressure was normal and so they took multiple readings to make sure my pressure wasn’t higher than normal, which is standard procedure.

However, many readings are done incorrectly at home and in medical offices: https://www.ama-assn.org/public-hea...bp-measurement-goes-wrong-and-how-tackle-them

That’s where something like this can hopefully at least suggest there might be a problem.

Exactly the right feature for all those with Hypochondrie. Anyone who suffers from high blood pressure (like me) measures regularly and doesn't need an inaccurate app with fake results that just drives you crazy. You can also measure yourself like crazy! The more you measure, the higher your blood pressure goes.

Blood pressure monitoring seems kind of cool, but I think most people get their blood pressure checked every time they visit the doctor. Most people who have high blood pressure already know about it, especially the ones who can afford an Apple Watch.
Not necessarily they know about.. Thats why it's called the "silent killer". This is huge and I would argue the most important health feature they have ever added to the watch. There is also such a thing as "white coat" hypertension; this is when your blood pressure is higher because of it being taken by a doctor. Also with blood pressure, it would be better to take more readings then just once in a while also.

I said it earlier this is a rebranded S6 or S10 as you will. And its proven to be correct.

I haven't seen, but does anyone know if it is active now (e.g. starting tracking) if you are on the RC since it is now approved or will it not be active until next week? It says "received FDA clearance and will launch next week" but is that merely because iOS 26 won't officially launch until next week? I haven't done any research on it :)

A better option, for actual BP monitoring is the Hilo device-as you get actual readings that are actionable

I’m waiting for this to come to the US. It’s supposed to come before the year is over.
If you buy in Canada and have a Canadian app store account you can use. I bought in the UK a year ago+ prior to the Canadian launch

Great that this is coming to the Series 9!
S9 FTW! I got mine when the S10 was released because of the report that the S9 would receive Sleep Apnea notifications. This feels like a double bonus, or maybe a triple bonus since this week the S9 also got Sleep Score.

Blood pressure is sometimes really weird.

I get a regular infusion at a cancer center, and the blood pressure machine in the initial intake area hates me. It either doesn’t read, or it reads super high. Like, “I’m about to stroke out” high. Every single they take my blood pressure on any other machine, or even manually, it’s fine.

It’s been happening for a couple of years now, and has become a joke with the nurses and techs at this point.

Also, add me to the list of people happy it’s coming to the S9! I’m very happy with this one, and I’m definitely not ready to upgrade.
