Can't wait to see all those small screens lit here and there from people looking at their notifications, should be pretty annoying

That's my pet peeve. I always tap them on the shoulder and tell them to turn it off.

This is going to be really annoying.

Does the notification still light up the watch even if they haven't brought their wrist up to read it?

But yeah... hoping there is a Do Not Disturb mode just like on the iPhone

Apple Watch = future.

Move theater = past.

Thus, we won't have to worry about this as theater attendance continues to go down

Let's just make IMAX have very strict policies regarding this.

It does not, from what I've seen/read, so hopefully that'll help.

If you tapped me on the shoulder and told me what to do it wouldn't end well.

Edit: Ok Apparently people think I'm the inconsiderate guy who looks at his phone in the theatre. This is not me. What I meant by my statement is I don't appreciate people telling me what to do (was thinking in general and not in the theatre context). For example if someone behind me tapped my shoulder and told me I needed to move because I was too tall I'd tell him to move.

By default, the watch screen doesn't light up when a notification comes in. It taps you on the wrist. If you raise your arm, then it will light the screen and show you a preview of the message.

If anything, the watch will make the movie experience better as you won't hear a loud buzzing from the phone vibrating but a very discrete tap on the wrist that only you will feel.

There is a DND feature.

Didnt someone in Florida get shot for doing something like that with a phone during the last Batman movie ?

You guys are all being pessimistic.

Imagine if Apple added the ability to silence your phone from the power reserve glance page. That would make it even easier for people to be quiet and unobtrusive during movies.

The general public seem to have forgotten how to sit through a movie regardless, if anything an Apple watch will be slightly less distracting than a full on phone.

That guy wAs a real jerk. The show hadn't even started. Retired cop. And we see what lots of cops are like now days.

That was at the theater where I go to movies with my mom when I am in Tampa. The movie hadn't started yet and the victim was texting with his young daughter's babysitter. The shooter shot at the victim because the victim tossed some popcorn at him.

It will be less distracting than a bright smartphone screen that's for sure. But I always make sure to turn my iPhone's brightness as low as it can go in the theater. Hopefully there is a quick access setting for that in the Watch later, if there isn't already.

babies/little kids and ass hats texting/reading facebook/doing whatever on their phones in a movie thieater...... UGH!

if you can't afford a babysitter... leave the kids home... don't pawn your crying/talking kid off on other paying customers..... and stay of the phone... it won't kill you for 2 hours!
