I noticed that the number of users has died down significantly as of late. At this rate the Mac and iPad sections of the forums will be more popular than the watch. I really wanted this category to work out for Apple but it's clear people may not be here for the Apple Watch except for me.

Had it since day one and still love it, not as excited about it as I was at first but still a must have for me.

Apple Watch interest is waining...

Similar words were said about the iPod when it just came out...

Watch and see....it doesn't do enough for the true masses. How many Samsung watches you see out there?? I know several that intended on buying but the availability turned them off. After seeing mine and the actual day to day usage they are glad didn't purchase. I also know others returning there's. The idea is great and love mine. However, I don't see it lasting. Only a niche market esp when being tethered to an iPhone. I am hoping my prediction is wrong, but watch and see only time will tell.

This is also a lot different than an iPod. A watch is more personal and apple hyped it up. Millions use music players and millions use watches. However many are very specific about personal wearable devices

I would much rather a small handful of regular posts about different things of interest rather than the endless shipping/moaning/does my bum look big in this type threads that have saturated the forum so far!

I didn't really see many people with MP3 players prior to the iPod either, even though a number of them existed for some time. Don't think any real conclusions can really be drawn one way or another. Of course it can really go one way or the other, or just kind of linger one some level, but calling it this way or that way is purely guessing without anything real to give it much support so far.

I agree--hard to say for sure what the market will do long term. As for the Samsung watch it had a lot of hype as well and fizzle out quickly. Apple has a large fan base which many will purchase just for being apple. Let's hope that keeps them going. My parents own an iPod and an iPhone but would NEVER own a watch. I also work in the hospital industry and have only heard about one other person owning an apple watch currently. When the iPod and iPhone were released I knew tons of people using/buying the week of the release. I just don't see the hype and people talking about the apple watch like other devices apple released. No way I can fully judge anything off just the people I know here, but gives a good idea of what everyday people talk about and actually use device wise.

It's like my own little test group lol

I'm not really sure how much hype there was when the iPod was released as that was one of the first non-computer mainstream releases where the public awareness wasn't really there. Many people didn't see their parents ever having an MP3 type of player, let alone some new one from Apple, but, as you yourself mention, now many do and think nothing of it. Releases of new products are fairly slow, in the early days of the iPhone just a few people here and there had it, and iPods even less in the earlier days. The hype is different definitely compared to iPod given that there wasn't much hype at that time, as I mentioned. So it's hard to judge really. Best (and really the only realistic) thing we can do is see how it goes.

It's impossible to make judgments like this until supply has caught up to demand. The masses dig instant gratification. The fans will get an appointment, try some on, and then order one to be delivered a month or two later. Joe Q. Public will not (And even some of the fans here gave up in a huff because they couldn't get their new device right away.)

If all models are widely available, and you don't see them making their way out onto wrists, then maybe you're right. But it's way too early to know that yet. All it takes is one Christmas of no supply constraint for them to be everywhere.

I think most people who got theirs on the first batch are happy and aren't posting here. Most of the initial posts were of the 'when has yours shipped' type of posts anyways.
I find the accessories sub forum to be quite active though!

Only because half of the users havent got theirs so getting bored of waiting! Hype has gone for me now massively!

Interest may appear to be waning because the next big wave of deliveries isn't for another 5 weeks......June 22nd is a long way away.

Everyone got their delivery updates last week and have now gone off to resume normal activities until Apple pull their finger out.

Apple Watch will stay. Mark MY words.

As soon as it's available to buy in stores, demand will be higher again. People can try it on and buy instantly.

I preordered without a try-on appointment but had one while the watch was on its way. Made me want it even more. Couldn't be happier now, love it.

I think quite a number of people (including me) are not too surprised. It is large, expensive and has a poor battery life. I am not against the concept, though, if I can see a "killer" reason to have one, but I can't. From my point of view, pretty much anything it can do I can do more easily on my iPhone, and it only takes a second to get that out and use it. To add insult to injury, it seems to need the iPhone to do anything, as far as I can see. I'm not trying to be negative, but those thoughts are, I suspect, the reality for very many potential customers.

^This. Nailed it precisely. This is why me and my friends who initially liked the announcement of the watch ultimately did not buy one.

I got upset when my band came 1 day later than expected. I almost cancelled it so I can understand everyone else's frustration must be far greater than mine was.
