Apple Watch/iOS 8.4 beta compatibility

So, 8.4 beta 1 has brought a redesigned Music app, with Up Next functionality (finally! I've been hoping for this for years!).

I wonder if/how the Apple Watch will work with this new functionality? Will we be able to add tracks to Up Next using it?

Will it be compatible out of the box or would we expect some form of OS upgrade?

I'm sure it will be compatible however there will probably be bugs. Whole point of a beta after all.

I think you misinterpreted his question. He wasn't asking about the beta

Actually it appears he was talking about the beta. He said will it be ready out of the box. 8.4 will only be in beta when it comes out of the box.

Either way, yes OP it will be compatible one day.

I was wondering about that. The watch is running WatchOS 1.0 and didn't show any sign of ability to add to Up Next because that feature hasn't really been announced yet. I think whenever 8.4 ships we'll see a WatchOS update to support it. Unless there will be a WatchOS beta as well.

I'm also curious if using the beta, would it update the apple watch to a beta as well or update the apple watch apps to beta apps.

If not, if the apple watch needs to be manually updated to a beta would the 8.4 beta break apple watch functionality with the phone if the AW doesn't have a companion beta. (IE can't use the music app on the AW to change tracks.)

I don't think we will see any big WatchOS updates until 2.0 at WWDC. I expect it to be a huge focus there

I'm sure it will have the functionality eventually...but it will be interesting to see. You never know, we may start seeing Watch betas get released through the Dev centre once launched. How else would dev test their Watch apps work with Watch OS upgrades?

Time will tell...less than a week to wait (furiously crossing fingers!!!) and we'll have the answers to many questions!
