I have the Apple watch series 2, and updated the software and connected it to my new iPhone 8plus.

Before, I could start the stopwatch to count say how many hours I was running, or awake, or whatever, and the complication showed up on the face. But now, evertime my watch turns on from me looking at it, by default the full screen is showing the stopwatch, not the modular face design that's supposed to be my main face.

Is there a default or setting that I reset when I updated the software? Does anyone know why it didn't do that before, but now it does, or how I can change it? I want it to count in the background, and my default watch face to be the modular design (which is set up to show the countdown timer in one of the corners).

Thanks in advance!

If you press the crown, it should go back to the watch face you have set.

The newer software has an option you can configure in the iPhone Apple Watch app to keep the last app that ran visible when you wake the watch for a longer time. This will keep the stopwatch on the display for a while or until you close it by pressing the crown. Try that and see if it helps.
