Hi all

I have the Apple Watch Series 7 - 45mm. I like the watch and its features / functions however even at 45mm I find it too small. I would prefer a 50mm / 55mm as I am use to having a large Swiss made watch on my wrist. These larger sizes would also allow the keyboard and other functions to be more useful and more user-friendly. Apple need to make larger variants as not everyone likes small watches and a larger watch means bigger battery and better hardware and would prefer a thicker watch (depth) as well - Maybe even 5G in the next one.

If they could provide larger sizes that would sell, I’m sure they would. I can’t imagine the market for a 50/55mm watch is that big though. It would look ridiculous on a normal sized persons wrist and Apple seem to have a philosophy of promoting fitness through this product so huge watches just wouldn’t fit that demographic IMO.

Agree that market for larger size watches would be limited. People with larger arms can wear smaller watches, even if their personal preference is for bigger ones. But if a watch is too large for your arm, you simply can't wear it, it won't physically fit. I would love to have a larger watch to make it easier to read and use a keyboard on the watch, but alas, such a large watch wouldn't fit on my arm.

Thought I read somewhere they were looking at a 48mm but don't remember any details. I'm really happy with the 45 unless my eyes get a lot worse.

Each to their own obviously but I already find many of the photos that people post on here of their 45mm watches look faintly ridiculous to my eyes. I can understand a watch that big if you are fairly large or have vision issues but otherwise the proportions compared to the wrist look wrong and I’m sure they must get in the way and get knocks.

(I’m a middle aged, well-built man and apart from my 41mm S7 my other watch is a 1950s Omega Seamaster so this probably colours my opinion as the case size on that is 38mm from memory. I just don’t get the oversized watch fad I think!)

Considering the AppleWatch is designed and predominantly used as a health/fitness tracking device I'd say Apple will not offer a 50+mm watch anytime soon. Working out or running in a watch that size isn't practical.. They went from 42mm/44mm/45mm but the overall size of the watch isn't that much different. I'd say maybe 47/48mm might have a slight chance but anything larger wouldn't sell in the numbers Apple would want to see to take a chance.

I think you’re spot on with your assessment. Besides that just imagine the discussions here that would come from it:
- which size is right for me, can’t decide
- is my wrist too big / small
- is this too masculine/feminine
- pain wearing my AW
Etc

Not happening, too small a market for such a size.
Larger screen is possible IF the design were changed to last years rumored design, but, I think that design did not appeal to a lot of people, at least imho

Which Swiss watches are 50-55mm? A special edition? I can't think of any that large, even the deep sea divers.

45mm is already towards the top of the scale. I can't see them going much bigger with the external case, though I'm sure they'll do all they can to push the screen all the way out to the edge.

The Breitling Super Avenger is 48mm if I remember correctly, and that‘s already way too much.
There surely are other, bigger models by other manufacturers, but those probably aren’t high end…. someone correct my if I‘m wrong

Of course, this is just one opinion, but here's the case sizes (diameter of the case) suggested in this article.

WRIST SIZEWATCH CASE SIZE
Ladies / Vintage34mm or smaller
< 6 inches34mm – 36mm
6 – 7 inches38mm – 42mm
7.5 – 8 inches44mm – 46mm
> 8 inches48mm or bigger

After a bit of reading, it does look like Apple measures theirs vertically rather than horizontally, which is closer to lug-to-lug measurement and absolutely nobody provides that info. But laid overtop of each other, my 45mm Apple Watch is about the same size as my 39mm Tag Carrera. The additional screen real estate of the AW makes it seem significantly bigger. The Rolex Deepsea Sea Dweller is 53mm, so within the OP's range. But the more traditional Submariner comes in at 48mm.

Small world. I've bought from their shop in Atlanta, but it was smaller than those recommendations.

Perhaps they could increase the width and not the length a little giving it more space but not overlapping the wrist. I know it would change the aspect ratio but maybe there is a way around that. They increased the smaller 41mm watch by 1mm wide as well as 1 mm long.... I believe that's where they got the "up to 20% larger screen" from.

I can't imagine an Apple Watch any larger than the 45mm variant, but I've never been a fan of the huge watch trend that much of the watch industry embraced - though they are beginning to slowly reverse course and start making more reasonably sized watches.

I'd definitely want a larger Apple Watch. And a circular one. The current Watch still looks a little bit like a toy. It's a great device but I want more classic look.
