Surprise
PSA: I know it is beta (7.4 (18T4169f) ) but wanted to give people a heads up.

Every morning for the past 5+ years I take my dogs on a morning "walk". I always record it as a walk workout.
Typically it consists of walking briskly about 1/4 a mile to the greenbelt, where then I let the dogs roam a bit while I jog/run 1-1 1/4 miles back and forth. I then take the dogs for another 1 1/2 - 2 mile walk after that. It ends up being a bit over 3 miles and about 55 minutes total each morning.

Typically at the end of the "walk" I end up recording about 40 exercise minutes and about 300 movement points. However yesterday after the update I noticed it recorded less than 25 minutes exercise and about 180 movement points. So today I paid closer attention and saw that basically the jog/run it didn't record any exercise minutes or movement points - the active calories didn't change (looking at the watch right before I started and right after I finished). Something must be off/changed with the algorithm and it is not recording that as activity. I guess it assumes I'm going too fast for it to really be "walking" and ignores it. It does still record the steps and the distance though.

Anyway - just thought I would mention it. Maybe tomorrow I'll actually split it into 3 workouts (walk, run, walk) to see if it records each - but I've been doing it as a "walk" workout for a long time without any issues.

Same happening to me since I did the update on Friday night. Saturday I first noticed my stand count wasn’t increasing, the move count and the exercise minutes were also off. I guess it’s a bug in the beta and will be fixed with the net release but it is really frustrating. I don’t want to upset my streaks so when I notice the counters stop recording I turn off then back on again the watch and it works fine again for a while. I did 21.5km walks yesterday to get enough movement credit that would normally come through 12-13km worth of walks. Apple’s way of making sure I exceed my daily routine??

LOL - yep! I have a Movement streak of 895 days that I don't want to mess up. I lost a streak of around 600 days previously when my watch broke a few years ago.

I reported similar and have now been asked to install two profiles to monitor activity recording.

I submitted this AM after seeing same behavior yesterday even after trying a few things, like pausing workouts, rebooting etc. I ended up lowering my goal (750 to 550) as it just pauses recording the movement points, exercise and stand counts for some reason. Tuesday was a "light" day for me as I "only" walked 8 miles, took 17402 steps with a 3 mile and a 2 mile walk and my movement ended up being 570.

Also battery usage is way up. I've had to recharge in the early evenings the past couple of days.

This is happening to me too, only since public beta 3 - activity seems to be completely wrecked. A 6k walk carried 74 active cals for me yesterday, a number of stand hours are just showing as blank (as if the watch was powered off) and the battery drain is ludicrous. A bummer, as pub beta 1 and 2 showed no such problems on my 44cm S5.

I guess we have to remember Beta is a Beta, it is frustrating though. I’ve just sent my log off to the developers for today’s “activity”. My watch is registering me as asleep for most of the day which i am sure is part of the root problem.

The battery drain appears to be happening once the watch stutters on activity logging. Twice I’ve noticed that when the watch stops counting, the little green lights on the back remain illuminated. A quick google search found that these sensors are related to heart rate monitoring and you shouldn’t usually see them in action.

My sleep app states something similar. 12-14 hours sleep per night since I last updated the watch and I know physically that I have barely slept 7 hours each night. Looking forward to the next release!

Fyi the Beta 5 seems to have resolved the issue. I got feedback from the report I filed with Apple too.

As a result of your feedback, there are changes in the latest update, build 18T5190a, that may have resolved this issue.
You can see the software build your device is running and check for the latest update by tapping on Settings > General > Software Update.
