This is just the reality of batteries today. I'll deal with it the same way I deal with all of my battery powered electronics. Use it until the battery life is unacceptable, replace the battery or replace the device.
Sorry for the late reply. Blowing smoke takes a lot out of you!
I may have been have been off by 2%-4% because I did only glance at my battery usage. However, I assure you I started with about 56% when I got in the car after picking it up from from UPS around 9am and I had over 40% when I decided juice up around 2:30pm. During that 5 hour plus period I was working around the house and though I had my watch on I hardly checked it nor did I receive many (if any) notifications during that time. One thing I did early on was turn off raise your arm to see the time feature.
I used it again later in the day after charging for an hour. From 3:30pm until 10:30pm I used 32% total. However, usage was much heavier and I was using the raise your arm feature for half that period. Tomorrow is a full day and I'll be away from my charging cable for at least 12 hours. We shall see how I fare.
Hmmm I got my MacBook aroud March in 2011. It only has 517 charging cycles according to coconut battery . I think 1000 Is plenty of the sources are right. I'll most likely upgrade before that anyways .
Just read on reddit that the apple watch will only last 1000 charges, what is your opinion on this, as for some of us we may have to charge twice a day, meaning upgrading our device every year will soon be very expensive as it adds up
Back when the original iPhone came out, there was a very similar story that had people thinking you could only charge the phone X number of times, but in fact what it was referring to was the number of charges until battery life started to degrade.
I may be off by 2%-4% since I didn't actually record times and percentages. However I am quite confident I was at 56% when I started and somewhere in the low 40s before I decided to charge it up. My usage was low because I working around the house assembling some furniture and I hardly looked at my watch (no notifications were received during that period either).
My results weren't quite as stellar this evening as I was at work and used the watch quite a bit more. However, I believe turning off the raise to glance feature makes a big difference. I don't mind tapping to see the time.
