The sofa of course. 😛

Seriously, what would you consider to be the more important thing to do?

Like was said, they are COMPLETELY different.

It appears you don't have a need for either of them and just want to spend money for the sake of it

It's a ridiculous question, as they are unrelated products and it makes no sense to compare them. The answer is completely dependent on what a buyer wants to accomplish. The poll makes no sense at all.

If I was required to make a choice I would go with Macbook.

Neither product has much appeal for me. I hope they are hugely successful and a delight to the people who buy them.

I'd go for a 2015 MacBook Pro 13" retina display with Force Touch.

But, if somebody, like seems your case, ask me to choose between two presents, a New Macbook and an Apple Watch, I'd choose the MacBook. First, it may come in handy for me, and leave my MacBook Pro in home. Second, you can always sell it and buy the Apple Watch.

Its a no brainer: MacBook.

I'd get the apple watch because I already have macs. And it's more within my price range, and I want to play around with developing for the watch and get in to that market while it is fresh.

I already have a laptop that's much more competent than this Macbook. So if I'm forced to get something, it might as well be the watch. If anything, it'll have first-gen resell value in a few years.

LOL well, I guess since the new Macbook wouldn't really be an upgrade from my current Macbook Pros, I'd go for the watch...even though I still don't really see it's appeal. If it were $150, I might grab one, but meh.

Neither one. I need more than one port and I have a capable smart watch. I could see buying an iPhone someday. My next computer upgrade is a new mini. I think my 2013 Air will last me another year or two - we'll see if Apple keeps my laptop business.
