Hi all,

New to the forum and a new Apple Watch Series 4 owner!

I was looking over the General/About details for my watch and noticed that my photo count is incorrect. It shows I have 15 photos sync'd to my watch but when I go into the actual Photos app, there are none (it syncs to my Favorites folder on my phone but I have no photos saved to the folder on my phone). If I sync to another folder with photos, the count simply adds the number of photos from that folder to the ghost 15.

I've tried erasing and setting up my watch from new but am still running into this problem. I did update my OS to 5.1.1, but cannot recall if this was an issue prior to updating. Any ideas what might be the problem, or if anyone else is experiencing the same thing?

I have the same problem. I have 2 photos in my Favorites folder but my count in settings/general/about says there are 5. This has been a problem for awhile, but I'm not sure how long. I have upgraded from the S0 to the S4 watch and through the several recent iOS updates. I can't say when exactly the problem first occurred, but so far it hasn't caused any trouble. I have it on my "Annoyances to look into someday" list.

So sounds like the problem isn't limited to S4, if you've possibly seen this on the previous gen? 2 actual photos to 3 ghost photos doesn't seem bad compared to my 0:15 ratio.

Annoyance is a good way to put it. Just makes you wonder what and where those 'random' photos are... I mean if they are actual photos, this could pose an issue with space (imagining if there so happened to be an example in the hundreds o_O). Curious to know how many people are impacted by what sounds like a software glitch.

When I look under General/Usage/Photos & Camera" in the watch app on my iPhone, it shows 7.7 MB. What does yours show?
[doublepost=1543338385][/doublepost]Here is another clue: I just used the camera app on my watch to take a picture with my phone. The picture showed up in the camera roll on my phone, and the count on my watch went from 5 to 6. The storage usage stayed at 7.7 MB. It looks to me like the photos counter gets erroneously incremented when you use the watch as a camera remote.

I also tested a screenshot on the watch. This puts the photo in the camera roll on my phone, but does NOT increment the photo counter on my watch.

New Apple Watch 4 also showing 15 Photos and 7.5 MB of storage used. Default Synced Album is Favourites, but that folder is empty on my iPhone.

My Photos & Camera storage is 12.1 MB (again 0 photos in there currently, but maybe what I had synced and removed before hasn't actually deleted yet). I haven't used the watch as a camera remote yet, but it's an interesting theory. Given what you found, you might be onto something, or at least one thing that contributes to the issue.

Maybe the photo count erroneously starts at 15 with new S4s. Thanks for confirming your example!

Same here. Photos count is 15 but there is no photo on the watch. Have this behaviour on every watch I own (s0, s2, s3)

I think that these photos are automatically synced from “moments”, automatic albums that photos app creates for you using your photos, to show on Siri watch face, or Photos watch face configured with “Dynamic” option.

These photos are changed daily, with daily “moments” album.

If you count photos shown on Photos face, normaly is the result of (photos count on settings)-(your synced photos)=(hidden or missing photos that you say)

It’s possible?

Any luck on this problem? I want to up date my watch and am trying to empty out items so I have space. Not sure these ghosts photos will change too much but every little bit could help!
