I’d like to think I’m taking care of it and taking it off nice but maybe I’m not. Your watch doesn’t have marks like that ? My wife has identical marks like mine. So I think it’s the charger. Not bothered by it just wondering if it’s not normal. I’ll work on removing it more carefully. Doesn’t bother me much. Most of those scratches aren’t visible unless under a good light source.

With the sport model, you have the composite backing, which can scratch, but what you have is likely very minor. I would just be cautious of the surfaces you set your watch down on, otherwise those micro scratches are not anything to be concerned with.

The stainless model has the ceramic backing, which is more scratch resistant, which I think Apple should use the ceramic backing for all their Apple Watch models, but of course they have separate hardware features to entice the consumer to upgrade to the most expensive model.

Still, these photos aren't helping you make your case at all.

This is like going to your car dealer and saying, "A year ago, I think the clearcoat started fading," but the car has already been scraped against the parking garage wall, one of the bumpers is half-fallen off, and you've replaced three of the wheels.

A bit of plastic polish will clear it up. It can wait until it's so scratched up that the LEDs can't get a good view of your pulse.

I also wipe off the back of my AW with my shirt or pants before putting it on the charger. It's the SS model with ceramic, but I'm playing it safe by not letting any dirt get in between the caseback and the puck.

If you bothered to read the whole thread you would realize I wasn’t here to make a case in the first place. Some of you guys are way too uptight.

So what did Apple say about it?

Or are you here to just whine?

Not a complaint from me about Apple in this thread. Not a complaint from me about the state of my watch either. Thread created just to see if anyone else’s watch had the same fate. Will contact Apple based on advice from other posters.

You can go troll somewhere else after pulling out your bunched up panties.

How the heck did you know my panties were bunched up? I mean seriously. I wear pants... Are you superman? Wait... why are you looking at my underwear?! :(

How are you removing the watch from the charger? Looks like it hasn't been straight off each time. I see what appear to be scrape marks from pulling off at an angle?

Did you use water to clean it and then wipe off? Have you ever had a water hardness test done on your water supply? Believe it or not, this can also be caused by a combination of water hardness and personal body chemistry, not just sweat.

I have several expensive running watches that get bathed in sweat routinely and have never had issues like you posted.

Just noticed this post. Honestly this hasn’t bothered me to the point of really being meticulous in researching as the watch is functional and the damage is cosmetic and pretty much unseen.

I haven’t done a hardness test. I’m also accustomed to using other watches with zero issues. If Apple does anything positive then great. If they don’t then still great. I’m not expecting them to do much on a watch nearly two years old.

Yeah, I spent some time reading up on this - the fact that my wife has the same scratches and she's much easier with her watch made me not worry so much about it - and under normal light it's hard to see (have to shine bright light at it).

Yeah will look into the Stainless one next time maybe - but I'm happy - I'm not at all worried about it.

OK cool - this is exactly what I read last night - thanks! Will do.

I would hope that they offer something - especially if your account shows a lot of apple devices - can't hurt to try - am interested to see what happens when you do. :)

Here is my watch after 3 weeks. I'm a little disturbed by the fact that just after 3 weeks there are scratches on the glass and wearing marks from the charger.

Isn't the composite back plastic/polycarbonate? Plastic scratches just looking at it. The ceramic back is more resilient.

Yep yep - just realized that thanks to this thread too - so I'm not worried about it. The HR monitor doesn't focus light so it shouldn't matter for the HR sensor from what I'm reading. Also when it gets bad, I can try to polish it. But I'm definitely going to take a bit more care setting it down on the charger from now on. But yeah 3 weeks of usage, it's gunna be very scratched after a few years.

I used to keep it clean because I was conscious of wearing it for workouts but it still started pitting anyway so I stopped. Cleaning didn’t make a difference to prevent this sort of stuff.
Tell that to Apple to make a claim but seriously, that watch hasn't been cleaned in over 1 year! How do you not get a rash?

Polywatch will remove the scratches!

Typical Apple. But then if they said 'plastic back' it doesn't sound great unlike 'composite back' which sounds more exotic! Those marketing guys at Apple eh? :)

Promise us you'll wash that heinously nasty thing before you show any more photos?

Maybe you're trying to boost your immune system through exposure to bacteria, but we don't need to know all that.

Seeing as you asked so nicely here, have some more pics :)

Bask in the bacterial glory that has clutched your attention.

I believe that all LTE models have ceramic backing.

Here is my S0 that was bought on launch day and was subject to literally 1000's of hard sweaty workout hours, worn daily and NEVER pampered (except maybe for the first few weeks). It looks near perfect.
