Getting my SE 2 last year changed my life; it actually helped me be more active, therefore healthier.

The only thing I'm missing is the "tap" control; I'd actually make large use of this as I listen to music when excercising and I'd like the option to skip tracks quickly.

If this model will have the feature, I might think of giving this SE 2 to my mother as a gift, hopefully to be able to better check her health, and jump on the SE 3.

Can health data be shared with family members? (after having authorized it of course).

And their next big thing will be an Apple/healthy watch for your 4 footed pet, lol.

That’s actually not a bad idea, at one level. 😎

Don't you have a form of that with an option under Accessibility? Assistive Touch, then Gestures?

While Apple has never entertained a price-competitive strategy, it would be quite mic drop of them to offer a $99.99 Apple Watch SE targeting not only parents, but current non-Apple Watch owners. Hell, even a $149.99 offering would seriously move some product - ensuring a whole wave of new Watch users - and potentially iPhone and other Apple device owners. 😇

A third-generation Apple Watch SE will be released later this year, and it will have a "new look" of some kind, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

In his Power On newsletter today, Gurman mentioned the redesigned Apple Watch SE as one of many new products that Apple plans to launch in 2025, but he did not share any specific design details at this particular time.

In September, Gurman said the next Apple Watch SE could have a plastic casing, like the colorful iPhone 5c from a decade ago. At the time, he said Apple had faced some "cost and quality challenges" with shifting the casing from aluminum to plastic, but he believed the project was still moving forward. He did not mention plastic today.

An affordable Apple Watch SE with a colorful plastic design could be appealing to parents who are looking to purchase an Apple Watch for a child.

The current Apple Watch SE was released in September 2022. In the U.S., it starts at $249.

In addition to the design changes, the next Apple Watch SE is likely to offer a new chip, for faster performance compared to the current model.

You can expect the Apple Watch SE 3 to launch in September.

"new look". Give me a break, the watches have never changed design in a big way.

iPad activation apple watch app please. Android apple watch activation app please.
It is a bit odd that a watch must be 'tethered' to a phone and not just another device in the pool of apple devices.

I'd definitely like things like fitness/gym trackers on my ipad to be able to notify me on my watch and have a watch interface.

I'd "maybe" be a candidate for an AWU (or similar) if they'd finally break away from also needing an iPhone and make a fully standalone device/experience

Other than not having a camera, it would have potential as a successor device to my iPhone Mini eventually

Battery life wouldn't even be a downgrade, as my 13 Mini battery is awful

Agreed 💯

“new look” probably means a set of brandnew colored watchbands for only $ 49 for the recycled plastic one and $ 99 for the plastic one with a magnetic closure 🤑
We laugh now, but if this thing comes in translucent iMac G3 colors, we'll all find ourselves camped outside of the nearest Apple Store before the introductory event video has even shown its last prayer-hands

Just from a setup perspective, an iPhone guarantees the presence of an easy-to-use (well, larger, at least) keyboard, Apple Account, external restore device, etc. Without this, Apple would have to force users to log in with the itty-bitty Watch keyboard or produce onboarding apps for iPadOS/macOS and Android, then see a likely swell of returns and complaints from people not realizing they have to sign up for Apple Accounts, activate a cellular connection, have more limited integration with Android... and all while removing one contributory reason to buy a current-model iPhone. What would Apple have to gain from cutting the iPhone to Watch cord?
