Hi All,

Just noticed that while my brightness setting is at the lowest, when i raise to wake 1 time i am still on low brightness. But when i do it 2 times in a row (while the screen is still on) the brightness crank up.

I don t know if i am clear but raising to wake 2 times in a row get the brightness higher for few seconds.

is that possible ? Or is that an issue with the ambient light sensor ?

thanks

Update (see video) : it depends of the light of the room but in some cases at the lowest brightness setting, brithness crank up and down when i raise to wake multiple time. Is that software or hardware issue ?

thanks for your help

I can't get my S6 to do this. Sadly, I sent in my S5 already otherwise I could check that lol.

I can get it to blink sometimes (turn off for a short second) and turn back on. I could see how based on how the light is in the room, it might change the brightness on the second screen lightup.

I wouldn't think this is a bug.

My guess is it is the ambient light sensor triggering it a second time.

I clearly see a second trigger but what exatcly ?

I could see how based on how the light is in the room, it might change the brightness on the second screen lightup.

This only happens on a specific amount of light in the room. When it s pitched black, brightness wiil stay at the lowest wich is the initial setting, when fully bright the brightness will crank directly.

This makes me also think that the brightness setting is not a real one as the watch keeps adjusting even at the lowest depending on room light.

Mine does that as well when Im indoors the brightness will stay dim waiting about 3 seconds the brightness will increase to normal (also when I move wrists up and down 3 times)

I would say just wait for Apple to give us an update it could be a glitch

I observed the same with my S4 from time to time... didn‘t think much of it though and it didn‘t bother me much.

This is bothering me on my new AW SE. I have brightness cranked up all the way on the watch (only low, mid, high, and mid and high look the same), and all the way up in the Watch app on my iPhone.

Indoors, when I raise my wrist, the display is very dim. If I start messing with the watch, it brightens up after a bit, but why does it start so dim? It's very annoying. I don't have AOD and the screen turns off in 10 seconds so "saving the battery" is not even reason.

I've just received mine and it does it as well. It's not the worst thing but it's annoying. I'm really worried because I live in Argentina and don't think I could give it back for a replacement in case it's a hardware issue. Seems to be like an "auto-brightness" thing. Do you think Apple could fix it with an update? Will they read us?

Hi, I got the same SE model and I start to see the same these few days. It’s dim for the first wake and will be brighter in the second. A reboot seems solve the issue

I kinda have the same issue on my SE 2022. I took it to the store where I bought it, and they said that it's a ambient dimming feature(?). Does anyone know how to enable this?

It is common. There is even a topic for the new AW ultra. It happens with bright backgrounds/watch faces for example white or Colours at full screen and when brightness is set in middle or high!
Try choosing a dark black background and it’s not happening.
We have an se 2022 and an ultra and it happens at both

I'm experiencing this too, but until now thought it was my sleeve that partly covered the watch face when first raising my hand/arm.
But here I see a video without sleeve, so hmm...

If you pull up any app that has a keyboard then your screen will brighten up. Leave the app in the background and you’ll have a bright screen. Not the best option but it works.
