In the end, I think it was some alternate tech for O2 readings that didn't make the cut, not for blood pressure.

100%. It's why my doctor makes me bring in my personal blood pressure monitor to appointments, because consistency of tools is important. I still see people checking their blood pressure in like those things in CVS stores and I sorta shake my head.

I appreciate Apple's push into health, but this is not a mass market, lowest common denominator thing.
Devil's advocate for a sec: couldnt you also double check your watch's calibration at the docs office?

It's not about calibration. The outside part of the wrist is not a good place to read blood pressure due to anatomy and physics. Like John and Mr. Ed said, you don't need blood pressure levels as casual, ballpark health data. The arrhythmia detection the Apple Watch already features is more than enough for you to go and get a medical checkup.

Funny enough, blood pressure tends to go up when you are at rest and tends to come down while you increase physical activity. This is due to the heart using more strength to pump blood through veins while working at lower BPMs when resting. If you increase physical activity the heart needs to pump blood faster but with less strength, and internal chemical processes relax the veins while augmenting blood flow for better oxygenation of organs and tissues.
Again, heartbeats per minute and O2 levels are better for quick health monitoring via a casual device than blood pressure.

Yup, the ebay seller of one of these was shown in the pics and by some mirable it happened to still be up. The second listing i could not find for the life of me, likely got deleted outright before it sold or completed. Its rare but occasionally development and prototype hardware ends up in the hands of regular wholesalers and onto ebay. Mine and the other picture are the only two in the wild as far as im aware.
