I had an Apple Watch Ultra on my Verizon plan with my iphone with no issues. I decided being a female I was tired of the chunky look of the Apple watch Ultra and switched to the new Apple Watch series 10 titanium.

For 2 days with the new series 10 I've been talking with Verizon tech trying to figure out why I cannot use numbershare to setup my new watch, and I was told today by Verizon that the only way to use cellular on this watch is to use it as a standalone device. Verizon tech said that this apple watch series 10 is made to be a standalone device and I cannot share it it with my iphone plan.

To use as a standalone device, I would have a separate number people would have to text or call on so my phone would not be connected to it. I said no I didn't want to do that. Now I'm wanting to send this watch back to apple. It's useless! Every watch I've had before this I shared with my iphone and if I wanted to go for a walk without my iphone, I could use my watch and not have to worry about if someone needed to get ahold of me using my regular phone number but work this new watch acting as only a standalone device, you cannot do that. You have to use a new number and no apps or anything will be connected with your phone. No thanks apple!!!

Just my opinion, but absolute garbage. Completely and utterly incorrect in every single way possible. You have been fed bull from people that have no idea what they are talking about.

The Apple Watch always has been and always will be (at least for the foreseeable) a partner device to the iPhone. It will work exactly the same way that all other watches have. Maybe ring them up again and get to speak to somebody that knows their arse from their elbow? So rather than blaming Apple, blame the idiot that fed you the wrong information!

Unless…I’ve completely misread your message…?

I've chatted with Verizon techs for many hours for two days then today I called Verizon for them to tell me they just realized that I can't setup the series 10 watch as a numbershare plan on Verizon. I'd have to setup as a standalone device. They said this watch is not compatible sharing with iphone and Verizon plan.

They said with a standalone plan if people needed to get ahold of me and I only had my watch on, they would have to call the new watch number instead of my cell phone number. I don't want it to do that. I want people to be able to call me on my regular number and me be able to answer on my watch if my phone not nearby.

Yeah, you just need to get a competent representative that can assist. I had no problems with any watch I've ever used with Verizon
Neither have I until this watch. I had the Ultra before and no issues. Now with this series 10 ask of sudden problems.

I talked with apple, according to them I can use it as a numbershare plan and Verizon don't know what they're talking about but how I'm the world do I get Verizon to make it work?

I've tried researching this issue and others have had the same problem but with older watches. I've tried all the tips and tricks and nothing works.

Is there a Verizon store you can get to? I've sometimes found that helps In finding someone who actually knows what they are doing.

I had an Apple Watch series 9, 15 Pro and Mini 12 on Xfinity and everything worked fine until I upgraded to the 16 Pro and series 10 watch at launch. Was unable to pair the watch. Went to Xfinity and was told Apple gave me the wrong phone and they couldn’t pair either. After many visits and calls to Apple and Xfinity, plus new watch, an Apple genius was finally able to pair the watch by deleting call forwarding on the 16 Pro to the Mini. Doesn’t make any sense to me but I didn’t care about losing call forwarding. Again everything was fine for 3 days but now the watch battery isn’t doing well in spite of updating os on phone and watch. I feel your pain. I hope you can get the issue resolved quickly.

Why not simply change to another carrier? They don’t offer the services you need.

It looks like someone in Verizon made this up just so they don't have to deal with you and something that they should know how to do, and if multiple reps say the same thing it's because someone typed this into their customer service notes. It's a conspiracy now. But if you can somehow get the attention of a news outlet with a good sized audience your problem will be fixed before tomorrow.

Interesting...
That doesn't seem legitimate.
Since you were transferring from an Apple Watch Ultra to an Apple Watch 10 series, everything should have just transferred over without issue.

When I set up my Apple Watch Ultra for cellular (through AT&T, as that is my carrier), my watch was assigned a separate number, with the option of my iPhone forwarding all calls (when my iPhone rings, my watch rings. Which is kind of the point). This was all completed through the Apple Watch app on the iPhone. Never had to speak with anybody.

Recently, I set up cellular for my fiancé on her watch. She has Verizon. The option that was presented was for them to just literally share the same number. I'm guessing that's what you are indicating: the iPhone and Apple Watch literally sharing the same line.

I was wondering:
Do you still have your Apple Watch Ultra connected to your plan? Is the reason that the Apple Watch 10 series not able to connect because you are still sharing the phone number with your Watch Ultra?
I do not have Verizon myself, so I'm not super familiar with the ins and outs of multiple watches being shared with an iPhone using the same number. If that IS the situation, that might be the reason. If not, not sure what the disconnect is…

Hopefully you get some answers soon!

I will try that also thanks!

I unpaired my Apple Watch Ultra and it asked did I want to remove my cellular plan and I chose yes.

Add you can see in the photos this is what I go through using my watch app during cellular setup. I chose I want numbershare, then when I choose confirm it makes it sound like I had a standalone plan (I didn't), I choose confirm that I want numbershare, then I always get the error Something not right.

Add you can see it wants me to setup as a standalone plan where it would have it's own plan and it's own number. Is that what I need to choose? I don't want a different number if I'm trying to text someone from my watch alone and they don't know the number.

That may be the issue. However, you should be able to repeat the steps with your new watch, which sounds like you were having difficulty with, and that nobody at the Verizon store nor Apple were able to help you with.

It's possible that if you wait a month or so and then try to do it fresh, you may be able to do it without issue.
This also means using your new watch without a cellular plan during that time.
Granted, you shouldn't have to do that, but that might resolve the issue.

I mentioned this because my fiancé tried to contact Verizon and set up her Apple Watch while she was at work (with leaving her iPhone at home that day accidentally). In theory, she was supposed to be able to do that. However, there were nothing but issues that nobody at Verizon could resolve. What I ended up having her do was completely disconnect the Apple Watch from her plan. We gave it a couple months, then I redid everything recently through the Apple Watch app on her iPhone. Everything went through without a hitch…

This is an idea that may work for you, if you are willing to give it a month or so.

Why does it say that your Apple Watch is already on your account as a standalone device if you haven’t added it that way?

Maybe check your Verizon account to see if there’s a new line added?

You got a clueless Verizon rep who didn't know what they were talking about.

Technically, the AW does get it's own number (mine was that way on Verizon, and it's that way on T-Mobile now) - but it's apparently just something they have to do to put it as a device on their network. The phone number is no good and the watch is linked to the number on your iPhone. It was that way on my AW8, and it's now that way on my AWU2.

I just went back to my apple watch Ultra. I connected it to a new cellular line with Verizon (since I got mad and cancelled my old watch line) with no problems. Weird... I guess I'll send the series 10 back.

They checked, it wasn't. It's something to do with the new apple watch series 10. My old Ultra I setup again with no issues.

i honestly tried the series 10 and i just couldn't go back to a normal series watch so i picked up the black ultra 2 which works fine with Verizon
