The Apple Watch Series 11 features the device's first ever decisive battery life increase, reaching a full 24-hours.

series-11.jpg

Since the Apple Watch was first unveiled in 2014, it has featured what Apple called an "all-day" 18-hour battery life through each successive generation until now. With the Series 11, battery life reaches 24 hours. The Apple Watch SE 3 continues to feature an 18-hour battery life.

This significant increase comes despite the Apple Watch Series 11 featuring the same casing and chip as the Series 10, so it is not entirely clear where efficiency savings or changes have been made to obtain a longer battery life.

The Apple Watch Series 11 also supports fast charging, with just 15 minutes providing up to eight hours of battery life.

Insufficient compared to the competition. Garmins, Coros and even the Pixel and Galaxy watches all match or exceed this rating. Garmins and Coros by a lot.
Yeah was gonna say... my Garmin can last for a couple of weeks (maybe more) and battery life is a key feature for marathon runners like me. Most distance runners will view the Apple Watch as clunky and inadequate.

I sorta wish Apple bought out Pebble and did something with it :D

Bro come on man, I’m sleeping the 6 other hours… I still need to charge once a day or during night… When we will get 2 or 3 days battery?

That's what is puzzling me as well. Does it have a bigger battery? Was that ever leaked either through rumors or regulatory filings? Unsure how they could make the battery bigger with the same components and case size, but I know that there have been some recent advancements in battery density tech, and Apple seems to be getting better at custom shaping batteries to fit nooks and crannies inside devices to maximize capacity.

I’ll wait to see how Apple calculated this.

The Apple Watch series 10 exceed the promessed 18h of battery life. So I’m expecting series 11 to actually go beyond 24h in real Life test.

I’m looking forward to the teardown. If it’s the same size battery then Apple might be forcing obsolescence in a way.

I suppose they already knew they would have nothing much for this year so they just went a bit slower last year to have something today.

I actually checked out Garmin and Galaxy and you're right about battery life, but IMO the Watch's other features completely outshine the competition.

18 to 24 hours is notable for sure, but the power save mode only goes from 36 to 38. So seems like it's more mostly they are make the non power saver mode more efficient but potentially limiting more things like power saver mode does. Since if it was just a bigger battery for instance then power save mode would go up drastically too.

"The Apple Watch Series 11 also supports fast charging, with just 15 minutes providing up to eight hours of battery life." Series 10 and Series 11 both say 80% in 30 minutes. So is 8 hours in 15 minutes better than what series 10 did or also the same?

Garmin is a fitness watch with some smartwatch features. AW is a smartwatch that can do fitness. Both great devices but not the same device. Totally different power requirements. I really wish people would stop with this silly comparison.

If that was the explanation, all Apple Watch including order models would have an increase of battery Life. This hasn’t been observed during beta.

Even with the Ultra you don't get that.

I wish it was at least upgraded to just over three days of active use - use case being to charge it on Thursday, be away on an active weekend, and still have a little bit of power left when you charge it on Sunday night. Having a special charger makes this worse than it has to be currently.

The ultra is soooo more expensive tooo

It could very well be a more efficient version of the same S10. If there’s no die shrink (like from the S9 to S10) with same battery capacity, there’s only so much they could do. :) More efficient screen?

My Timex beats the Garmins by even more than a lot. What Timex is not Garmin's competition? My point exactly. Let me know when Garmin lets me reply to my email and text messages with more than a preset response, then call it the competition.
