Ordered Space Gray 42mm w/ black woven band
Says shipping 6-8 business days with arrival Sept 26-28. Looks their not as excited to get these into peoples hands with overnight shipping like they are with the iPhones. :-(

At least that's better than the 2 month backorder for the first one.

DUMB QUESTION
This wasn't mentioned in that snoozer of a keynote, so I'll ask here 'cause I'm not 100% certain:
the Series 2-needs an iPhone or not?. Thank you.

Apple Watch 2 series, 44 mm space gray with aluminum case black sport band... Delivers the 16th :)

Wasn't able to get in until about 03:15 Eastern. Wife's 38mm Gold/Concrete band delivers 26th-28th... my 42 mm Gold/Cocoa band delivers Sept 30. Oh well... I guess our iPhone SE's got our expectations high.

looks like every series 2 is into october in canada and the series 1 are still sept 16...you would have thought they would have made more series 2 initially since the pre orderers would be more likely to buy the better models. I preordered but I bet I will be able to walk into best buy on the 16th and buy one

Series 2 has a GPS chip, but no cellular chip. WatchOS 3 allows native apps. So the answer to your question is, "It depends."

Order in at 2:11AM (Central), stupid wrong billing address slowed me down :( It seems it was up around 2:09.

Lets hope they have more watch supply this year than last. It does say Delivers: Sep 16th on both iPhone and watch on my confirmation.

Woke up just after you, ordered a 38 mm silver aluminum Series 2 for the Unindicted Co-Conspirator and a 42 mm space grey aluminum Series 2 for me. Hers will arrive next week. Mine ... September 26-28. Ah, well, I have my Apple Watch 1 ...

It has GPS, so it is able to track your activity without an iPhone.
But that's as far as it goes. There is no LTE connectivity on the Watch so you don't have internet connection, you can't receive messages or calls or use Siri unless you have wi-fi.

Ordered the Series 1 Aluminum with white band. That is available on the 16th. Was interested in Series 2 aluminum. That is already up to 3-5 weeks for shipping. Will be passing on my 1st gen Apple Watch to my wife. I always have my phone with me, and I don't swim, so I when with the Series 1. And saved $100.

Not true. Basic black aluminum 42 with sport band delivers Sept 30. So only 2.5 hours into ordering it falls another two weeks. These SOB's never, ever, have sufficient quantities at launch. Exactly who was the ace logistics person at Apple???

I don't know about anyone else but in the UK I was on straight away and standard delivery was 2 weeks with no option to collect in store.

same here in Germany, at start only Series1 aluminium Models where available at 16th

I thought the 1st gen Apple watch was waterproof?

Ive been swimming and allsorts in it

Main reason I skipped the first one. Guess I should've jumped on it.

I went to buy one last night around the same time, so that it would arrive before my trip. With delivery on the 30th, I'll just wait and see if I really need this thing again... answer is probably not.

I woke up at 2:55am and wasn't able to place my order until 3:31am with a delivery date of 9/16.

Supply must be constrained on the Series 2 watches as well as the 7's as some models were immediately hard to get. Looking at this like the iPad 2 update and expecting Series 2 sales to take off once supply is available.

You need to have an iPhone to make this a useful smartwatch, however you can now do a bunch of things (since it has GPS and better local app processing) with your iPhone left on your desk or in your locker (away from you and your Apple Watch) and they'll synchronize when they get into contact with each other (but you're not going to get imessages with your phone far away). It's better than before, but it still requires you to own an iPhone to be useful.
