It was working fine all day today until just a few minutes ago. The battery was at 76% yet it won't turn on and holding both buttons isn't doing anything. It didn't experience any water exposure or droppage so I'm at a loss to figure out what has gone wrong.

That should mean it stuck at something. Normally holding both crown & side button for more than 10 seconds will solve it. If it doesn’t then the only other way is Apple Store near you.

You could also try putting it back on the charger and see if it powers on, if it doesn’t, then contact Apple.
