I’m just trying to see if anyone else is having problems with getting messages on they’re AWS3. I upgraded my phone from the 7+ to the iPhone X. Anyway long story short I had to call AppleCare and TMobile because we could’nt get the cellular plan to activate. After we finally got that working she sent me a text to test it and I only got it on the iPhone and not the watch. I’m upgraded to the latest OS on the watch and the iPhone. AppleCare says there is a known issue about some watches not being able to receive messages and an update is coming soon. But Apple has no idea as to why only a select few is having this problem as opposed to all. I didn’t back up the watch. I just set up as new from scratch. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I wasn’t getting them and google came up with a couple suggestions but don’t think they worked. I toggled the settings, like mirror my iPhone or custom etc, .. I just turned setting things on an off and kept trying.. rebooted the watch too. It started working but can’t say why.. worth a try, maybe something doesn’t realize it’s right. ..good luck.

Is the screen on on your phone when the test messages come in? Messages will go only to the phone if the phone thinks your using it. Make sure the phone’s screen is off, then have someone send you a test message. It should then go to the watch.

We did it with the screen off. They tested it by sending me test messages.

It's intermittent on my iPhone 6s and Serioes 0 watch too. But it's not just iMessage, but mail too.

Sounds like the same problem I have (AW series 1 and iPhone X). Only iMessages get through to my watch, not regular text messages. Really annoying.

Same for me. Messages alerting/showing on my 7+ but nothing on the watch. Pulling the notification shade down shows ‘no notifications’ even though I havent interacted or cleared them on the phone.
