I currently have the Apple Watch series 1 and trying to decide which I should upgrade to. Best Buy currently has the series 3 gps on sale for $199 and the 4 is $399. Is the 1 to the 3 a significant upgrade or should I wait for the 5 to be announced than snag the 4 for around $279?

The series 3 is at such a good price point I’d jump on it. I bought mine from swappa and get 48 hours of battery life.

I would go for the Series 3. That is a sweet price. I have owned the Series 0, 2,3, and now 4. Truthfully I liked my S3 better. For some reason the S4 irritates my arm and I have to wear it really loose. I never had issues with the S3. Unfortunately my daughter has it now.

Well, if you have heart issues, use cellular a lot, or planning on keeping it a long time, then S4 is a no-brainer.

Heart issues because of ECG and it can screen for Afib in the background (not sure if S3 can do this).

Cellular because the bottom of case is now ceramic for better cellular reception. It seems to link to iPhone at farther distance (but i could be imagining it).

Long time because S4 chip is 64-bit dual core (rumored to be the Tempest core of A12 chip).

If none of above is important, then get the S3.

At this junction, I would just wait for the Series 5 if it does launch in September, rumors have been fairly subtle at this point, but if you’re Series one will survive until then, that’s what I would continue to do.

I just bought a Series 4, Nike+ version and I love it; compared to my Series 0. The screen increase really makes a difference, going from 42mm to 44mm. I believe Best Buy had the Series 4 $100 off for Father's Day.

I just sold my Series 4 and went back to a Series 3. Outside of bigger fonts, it didn’t do much that my Series 3 could do.

Speed is the same and I didn’t care about having an ECG.

It’s actually on sale for just $50.

That’s the same sale they had for Mother’s Day, which is what convinced me to buy my S4!

If you’re not in a hurry and not interested in the Series 5, then wait?
When the S5 is announced, the series 3 GPS may even go lower than $199.

I just bought my series 4 aluminum w/cellular (but most likely won't use this feature) yesterday at target for $100 off.
I bought my SSSB series 3 around April but after having the S4 on my hand these past two days, I have no regrets. I won't even be thinking about the S5 even if it comes with new features. Although a camera on an Apple Watch would be intriguing.

I doubt Apple would venture with a camera on the watch. Firstly, Privacy comes to mind. Second, I think the Watch doesn’t add any real value adding a camera. I just see it being a very niche category that probably wouldn’t see much practical use. But that’s not to say it can’t happen, I just don’t think Apple will add a camera.

I think that S3 has much better price/value ratio right now. But how guys mentioned before, it makes sense to wait 2 months if S5 will be released. Then the prices of S3 even S4 will drop.
