Apple Watch Series 4 - Will there be a non cellular model?

The latest is that they will all have ceramic backs because there will be no GPS only model. All will be LTE in a one model fits all policy. You don’t want LTE then don’t activate it. It’s cheaper forApple to make as few models as possible an savings by using the same electronics makes sense to them

Or not.

Wouldn't Apple be sacrificing sales of millions of current Apple Watch S3 GPS owners who simply want to upgrade to S4 GPS only? Wouldn't current upgrade-interested GPS S3 owners just hold on to their current S3s if there is no S4 GPS option? I can't wrap around the idea that Apple would give up those sales.

Then there's LTE limited availability and/or limited interest in global markets outside the U.S. where S4 GPS-only sales would be zero if the bulk of Apple Watch-interested consumers had no GPS-only option.

Leaked xml file appears to confirm there will be a non cellular model

It depends on the price point. I can see having only a LTE model, if it does not come at a premium price.

The recent leak of the Apple Watch 4 certainly has me interested, however is there any indication that there will still be a non cellular version? I have no interest in that capability so I wouldn't want to have to pay more for its inclusion.

Non-cellular is the only option listed here.

Probably means it exists.

But seems to confirm that GPS only models will still be aluminum only.
They can only make so many models of watches. (Or well, they can; they obviously don't want to...) There's 2 case material varieties, each in 2 sizes and 3 different colors. Add LTE/non-LTE to the full mix and Apple needs to carry another 6 models of watches.

That's excluding the Hermés version/s (if that one too is available in 2 sizes) btw, since you probably don't want to buy a premium watch only to skimp on the LTE... :p

Well we were right and wrong at the same time... I don't know how to feel. I wanted to buy the steel version GPS only... So should I buy the aluminum one now? Or buy the steel one abroad and ignore the LTE...

Is it possible to ignore the LTE? I mean: they don't bother you to activate some cellular plan when you buy it?

No, a LTE plan is not associated with the watch at purchase. You can set it up later and pay month to month.

Ordered the aluminum one and I'll pick up the stainless steel version when stocks are plenty so I don't make the trip to France for nothing :)

iPad is not carried everywhere, but the AW like iphone, yes. Apple wants in the future that the AW will be the next "brain" and you cannot achieve that with just wifi model...just like an iPhone
We will see, 9 days more
Lol but we carry our iPhones everywhere? And the watches just connect to those anyway. Cellular only models would be kind of silly. As we now know there are both gps and cellular models...

This is actually quite cool - if you are in a country with no cellular models, everyone now has aluminium on the latest model and there’s no brag factor pushing people to pay more for a red dot or shiny finish.

But I really want the shiny one after years of aluminum...
