Does anybody know or has heard of whether or not the Series 5 has improved durability and scratch resistance?

I currently have a Series 3 and it has received some light scratches in the corners of the screen. I’m still not entirely sure how they got there but alas.

I’m hoping the Series 5 has brought improvement in this department.

Depends on which screen. I have an Al S4 with the ion glass and my wife has an Hermès S4 with the sapphire. I case and screen protect mine and my wife doesn’t and hers looks better than mine a year later. I also try to be careful with mine and she bangs it around like it’s a sack of potatoes. I have light scratches on the edges of the screens too only visible in direct light. Might be the oleophobic coating wearing off where I slide the watch into the case and it rubs. Oh the irony lol.

Yeah I should have specified that I’m asking about the S5 Aluminum.

My situation sounds exactly like yours. That’s probably what happened to my screen honestly. Sounds quite possible.

I’ve been looking into screen protectors for the watch. Which one do you have?

I use the IQ Shield. It was a three Pack for cheap on Amazon. I have a 44 mm and I first ordered 44mm screen protectors. But because of the curved edges, it didn’t work out that well so I ordered 42mm (watch 3) protectors and they fit better. It’s not edge to edge but the cases i use have a raised lip that takes care of the edges. I think these blemishes on my screen are from the removing and applying of the cases

Don’t bother with the glass protectors that have the adhesive on the edges. Complete garbage.

Useful info! Thanks! I’ll look into IQ Shield. ;)
