The Nike editions have always shipped two weeks after the Watch is released. Not sure why, maybe it’s Nike but I’ve had every version and it’s been the same. I was PO’d the first two years but now I’m resigned to just wait.

The date from sprint was also in October, but I don’t remember the exact date. For some reason the nIke version always ships 2 weeks later

They should follow apple launch date and have it ready for that day and not make us users who ordered the Nike version not wait so long.

Think of it this way. Apple doesn’t charge your credit until packed and shipped. Until then let your money grow with investments (heck even in apple stock). Of course not investment advice just alternative thought to your first world problem here. Think positive man think positive.

Other than the band, what is the difference between the Nike and regular aluminium watch?
Exclusive Nike band (sorta)

Exclusive Nike watch faces

You wait an extra two weeks

Otherwise no difference, price is the same.

Could it be that the Nike edition would cannibalize sales of regular aluminium models. If you go with a Nike version, you get extra watch face options for the same price. Who would bother with the standard aluminium versions on launch day? They probably just want to make sure non-nike inventory actually get's purchased.

It begs the question, why not just make the aluminium version and the Nike version one and the same?

many people don’t like nike for political reasons i think, especially after colin kaepernick

I’m on the fence but yeah it would be nice to have a Nike version. I really like the bands but there is no point in buying them separate. I got a launch day 5, but will probably take it back and exchange.

i assume it has to do with apple wanting to sell their own non-nike versions for a couple of weeks before the nike version launches. why they dont just make the aluminum the nike version altogether might have to do with whos getting a slice of the sale and how much? if nike has a good deal worked out, apple might want to keep them separate so they can keep more of the margin on the non-nikes. no idea what the actual deal or reason is but thats what ive imagined in my head in my spare time :)

Interestingly I was charged for my Nike watch. There are 2 pending charges. One is around the price of the band and the other is around the amount for the watch without the band.
