As the title says it, my Apple Watch Series 6 (Nike edition) sometimes restarts/resprings randomly. I was wondering if anyone else is having this issue as well. After doing some research online, I found out that this has been a known issue with the Nike edition of the AW (previous generations). I asked a friend of mine and his regular S6 never does this, so at this point I'm not sure whether mine has a hardware or software issue.
Also, my watch is running watchOS 7.0.1 if that helps.

Call Apple and have it replaced, not normal behavior
Thanks for your response! Fortunately I'm still within the return/exchange window so I'll contact Apple and see what they say. But at this point should I change the model and go with a regular aluminium instead of the Nike edition?

Not normal. Worth resetting to factory / unpairing/re-pairing and talking to Apple Support, but I'd expect an exchange is the likely fix as it's perhaps a hardware issue.

As for regular aluminum vs Nike+ version -- only difference is the Nike+ version comes with a Nike+ band and has additional exclusive watch faces. No hardware differences. IMHO there's no reason to pick regular alum vs Nike+ unless you specifically want a color/band choice not in the Nike+ lineup.

Yea you are definitely right. That's why I chose the Nike version in the first place, but after what happened and reading the following stuff, I'm starting to think that they are somehow defective lol

This is definitely not normal my Nike Series 6 is actually running amazing and I'm getting better battery life than what is reported on the regular Apple ones.

Stick with the Nike unless you want blue or red, my S3 was a Nike and I had no issues with it

Mine has done this like 3 times since I got it last Monday. It seems to reboot pretty quickly, but I’m worried it’s going to do this during a race. I’m wondering if it’s part of the buggy messes that are watchOS 7 and iOS14.

Same advice, get it replaced

I have Nike Apple Watch 6 and I don't see any of this issues on latest betas. Replace the watch if the issue is persistent.

Yeah I don’t have an Apple store within 2 hours of my house so I really don’t want to have to go through the process of mailing it in and waiting for a new one.

Your choice I guess, but given the relative dearth of reports of spontaneous reboots, it's far more likely a hardware issue than a software issue.

I'd get on the phone with Apple ASAP to figure out your options. Possibly even order a replacement, then initiate the return on the existing one. Make due with whatever you were previously using to cover the gap if need be.

Good luck.

call Apple and see if they send you a new one before mailing yours in ... I've heard they've done that

Yea I feel you, this process is definitely annoying. I will most likely return my unit as well and buy a new one. As annoying as it is, this might be a hardware issue and I'd rather take my chances with a new one instead of keeping my defective unit.

My Series 3 spontaneously rebooted with 7.0. My Series 6 SS (not Nike) just rebooted with 7.0.1. There are other posts about rebooting, and the common denominator seems to be watchOS 7.0. I think it’s a software problem and not a hardware problem.

Then hopefully this is just a software issue and Apple will resolve it soon

I turned off WiFi on my watch last night and it hasn’t rebooted since then. Fingers crossed.

I know this is unrelated to the post but I was wondering with what settings do you usually use your AW with? Settings like display brightness, always on display etc
